A new update will release for EA Sports WRC alongside the next season of the Rally Pass. Among the long list of patch notes features a number of performance fixes. Still tackling the Unreal Engine’s Pre-Shader Compilation intricacies, players will hope this latest update will finally put an end to stuttering in-game.

In addition to the supposed boost in performance, the update includes fixes to many glitches. However, whilst dropping infinite Shakedown attempts, Club events will seemingly still feature damage repair glitches.

Elsewhere, VR support is still set for implementation at a later date. EA Sports confirms that it will communicate more on the feature once release approaches. Here is everything you need to know about the Season 3 Rally Pass and the rest of the update.

Rally Pass Season 3

As part of Update 1.5.1 to the most recent rally title comes the third season of its Rally Pass. Including new Moments challenges and several new rewards to claim via XP, those that enjoy such challenges are sure to enjoy the new release.

The Season 3 Rally Pass rewards include five new liveries, one of which coming with the EA Play subscription. Whilst the update launches on 8 February, Season 3 begins on 13 February.

EA Sports WRC Update 1.5.1

As aforementioned, it is clear from the patch notes that the EA Sports WRC team is working hard to fix performance issues in-game. A number of PSO support for compute shader improvements aim to tackle the stuttering from which many players suffer.

Whilst not adding Virtual Reality to the game, Andreas Mikkelsen fans will now get to don the Norwegian’s colours. His Skoda Fabia Rally 2 livery is now available in-game. Speaking of liveries, it is clear that, at least throughout Season 3, the 2024 WRC liveries will not join EA Sports WRC.

With the Central European Rally still relatively new in the game, it features heavily on the patch notes. From graphical adjustments to glitch fixes and performance improvements, the newest location should be more fun to race.

I'd love to know if they still intend to implement PCVR support or if that's dead in the water at this point. Given they apparently need all the requisite performance improvements they can muster prior to, but would be nice to know where the feature stands.

Bought the game late, about 2-3 month ago. Maybe thats the reason i never realized any performance probs.
My system is good, but no more high end (rtx 3080/r5800x3d). Most the time +100 fps....
It looks not like a next gen wonder, but it looks very well for me.

Additionally i really like the FFB. Best FFB in a Rally game since Modded FFB of Dirt Rally 1.
It is not rf2 or AMS2 but i always know what the car is doing, and i never expected that after DR2.

The content (cars+stages) is more than good. So i really don´t know the hate against this game. Mabye because of the "EA" ??

My only big issue was the balancing, but i restarted the career recently and it really seems to be fixed, at least for me an avarage rally driver @90% difficulty for now.

PS: No VR driver here, so thats of course not a point to complain about

Let's hope this update doesn't brake UE-VR since that was working quite good for me

Still can’t play at all. I reported a gardware conflict issue weeks ago and noone has responded. I’m very disappointed.

Looks like it from the locations I've been racing. Get comfortable 140 fps average (G9, 4080, 13600k, high-ultra) and seems smoother than ACC. And it's IMO way better than DR2:thumbsup:
Thanks for your feedback! I haven't been able to test it out so good to know.
That said, I haven't had many issues, even from launch.

And as always. RD does events, the one that are live now:

How's the experience with UEVR? Able to get good fidelity and performance? Comparable to a native VR experience?

The compatibility list showed EA WRC running as "Works OK". I haven't tried it yet myself, so interested as well.

Edit: thought it was listed as "Perfect", but checking now it isn't, so updated some text.

For me it's good enough after some tweaks and i'm never gonna play WRC23 on my Samsun 49" monitor in pancake mode again.

Currently running a resolution of 6000x3000@80Hz on the Quest 3 with a RTX4090

for all you rally fans who think ea will make the wrc game realistic or work it will never happen. ea is not interested in anything but money and arcade games. they have hardly even been to Finland or seen pictures of Finland because in Finland there is no lawn right next to the gravel road.!first comes the ditch and then the forest.!and you can't cut 10 meters in a bend when your car gets stuck in the soft forest terrain. my perspective is simulation. arcade lovers love the game for sure. we all have to remember that dr rally was made 8 years ago so this is not that big improvement. we have new consoles and stuff and still the game looks same or uglier.its the same thing that was in ea nhl series. when they upgraded game engine to frostbyte it still looks the same game. i dont get it!

Even if it´s like you said, what better alternative do you have for "us arcade rally players" ?

Still the mighty RBR?

Some of that will be performance issues too. No way this game could run smoothly if the whole forest was there.

It's a simcade title, it always will be. That's not EA, that's all of codemasters titles. The physics will improve incrementally but it will never be a full SIM.

i didn´t notice any difference...means it still eats a way more performance as ACC with just one car on the road. I mean its ridiculous, what I see and how hungry it is.
