With Karting Superstars, Original Fire Games deliver their second effort following the success of their stylized top-down racer. The Vancouver-based studio takes it back to the roots of many racing careers with Karting Superstars. However, the plans regarding the games’ release strategy have changed a bit.

Initially, OFG did not want to go down the Early Access release route, as siblings Carolina, Alberto and Carlos Mastretta outlined in our recent interview. Studio Lead Carolina Mastretta explains: “We decided to release the game in Early Access to work with our community to make Karting Superstars the best it can be as we also craft more content for it, from tracks to features like Spectator Mode.

Karting Superstars’ Early Access release version features several track known from Circuit Superstars, but also new entries, all with multiple layouts. With more content, game modes and functions yet to come, the Early Access version’s price is lower than that of the eventual full version. OFG plans the Early Access period to last for three to six months.

Karting Superstars Track List

  • Centrifuge (+Club layout)
  • Copperwood (+Club layout)
  • Hidden Lake
  • Maple Ridge
  • Siena
  • Sugar Hill
All layouts also feature a reverse version.
During this time, the studio aims to add more circuits, kart customizations, the aforementioned Spectator feature, and strategy mechanics. Further features that have not yet been announced are also in the works. Meanwhile, a demo version is also available via the game’s Steam page.

I'll buy it for the steamdeck.

Got a fair amount of distraction from the first one while traveling for work.

Way too early access to be fully enjoyable at the moment. Physics are fun, but the tracks are boring, the one class is too slow to be entertaining, and there is a real lack of any game. I'd say hold off on this one for a while

AI adapting to your skill ? You mean adapting to your lap times and going faster than you ?
Hard no on this one, no sim no buy !

I mean.. Im playing circuit superstars on Switch and I thought that it was still early access.. There is a clear lack of content there, don't know why they focused on this instead of adding stuff and making their first game better and more complete.

The demo is nice, but WHY THE FK THEY CAN'T JUST ADD THIS CAMERA TO CIRCUIT SUPERSTARS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I gave up to buy Circuit Superstars just because couldn't deal with that retrograde camera... if the game had some chase-cam like this, that would be one of my favorite games.

It's fun for what it is. To me, the tracks are fun but the physics are boring. The game rewards smoothness and proper racing lines. The controls are extremely forgiving, for example, I cannot get the kart to spin even with full turn and full brake. It's decent enough for me to keep it and play once in a while, but I'll turn to AMS 1/2 or whatever for more realistic kart handling.

Bought it for the PS4
I hated those cams. Especially in splitscreen modus.
Physics were really fun, but racing with friends was no fun because of the horrific horizontal splitscreen on a widescreen TV.
With a 3rd person perspective and or vertical splitscreen i would have played it more often.
