Two months have passed since Volume 3, so it is time for the next big update for Need for Speed Unbound to launch: Fans of the tuning-focused arcade racer can look forward to Volume 4 being available on August, including a celebration of Porsche's 75th anniversary. Meanwhile, Xbox racers can take advantage of a free play period towards the end of the month.

To celebrate 75 years of Porsche, NFS Unbound players will be able to get behind the wheel of a fully-electric 2022 Porsche Taycan Turbo S to customize it to the extreme - if they can finish the Porsche Playlist three times. Additionally, new Porsche-themed events and customizations will be available in Volume 4.
Another Stuttgart vehicle can be unlocked by rising up to rank 50 in a free refreshed 75-level Speed Pass - in doing so, players will get access to a custom 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera S promising to be "the wildest that Lakeshore has seen", according to EA.

More Playlists & Challenges
The update is also going to introduce Gauntlet Playlists that see players face off against especially tough cops. Completing a route will net big rewards, but only if players can avoid getting stopped by Lakeshore's law enforcement. Seven new Linkup locations including the ability to quick-route to them are going to be available as well.Players will have a fresh set of challenges on their hands, too, with 20 Daily Challenges, 15 One Shot Challenges, and 39 Weekly Challenges being added. With the update, random events are going to become Boosted events for a limited time, offering the opportunity gain additional rewards.
Three DLC Packs
Three new pieces of DLC will be introduced with Volume 4 as well, those being the Hip Hop Origins Swag Pack (including a custom 2017 Mercedes -AMG G 63, a clothing pack, driving effect and more for $14,99), the Lotus Exige S Legendary Custom Pack (including the car with custom bodykit and livery, as well as a 10-level Speed Pass boost for $9,99), and the Vol. 4 Customs Pack for $5,99.The Volume 4 update brings lots of content, challenges and customization options to Need for Speed Unbound. The latter reintroduces three cars from previous NFS titles to Unbound, namely Eddie's 1993 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec from Need for Speed Underground, Rachel's 2008 Nissan 350Z from Need for Speed Underground 2, and Joe's 2020 Polestar 1 from Need for Speed Heat. Cars from previous titles were available in Heat as well - as free unlockables, however. Speaking of Heat: Owners of Unbound's predecessor will receive a 1994 McLaren F1 as a welcome gift if they purchase Unbound as well.
While it is not quite a gift, Xbox players with a subscription to Game Pass Ultimate or Live Gold get to play Need for Speed Unbound for free while the Xbox Free Play Days take place from August 24th to 27th. That is more than a full weekend to give the game a try and decide whether or not it might be worth a purchase - or to try and complete it in just four days if you are so inclined.
