After its big v1.9 update that introduced three new cars and a new circuit, Assetto Corsa Competizione has received additional content seemingly out of nowhere - and completely free for all players! The McLaren 720S GT3 Evo is part of the latest update that brings the sim to v1.9.3 and also introduces small fixes and changes.
It had been known since the 2022 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps that the latest GT3 weapons of Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini would be coming to ACC - but at that time, the Evo version of the popular McLaren race car was not yet on the horizon. The updated vehicle was only announced in February.
The British manufacturer has updated the 720S GT3's front and rear bodywork to achieve more downforce and better stability compared to the first iteration. To improve tire management and better adjustability, parts of the suspension have been reworked, which supposedly also makes them more durable even if there should be contact with the barriers or other cars.
It is only fitting that ACC sees the addition of the car, as it has been racing in the GT World Challenge since the start of the season, joining the Ferrari 296 GT3, the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) and the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo II as a new car for 2023. Optimum Motorsport finished in 11th at the Monza season opener, while Garage 59 scored a 16th place at the first Brands Hatch race, improving to fourth in the second race at the legendary British Circuit.
