F1 23: More Info on Braking Point 2 & F1 World in New Deep Dive

The second Deep Dive video for F1 23 has been released: EA Sports and Codemasters give more insight into what to expect from the Braking Point 2 story mode and the all-new F1 World hub once the game releases on June 16th.

While the first Deep Dive focused on gameplay mechanics and refined physics, the second video released ahead of F1 23's launch sets the spotlight on the return of the Braking Point story mode last seen in F1 2021, including Aiden Jackson, Casper Akkerman and Devon Butler as returning characters. The continuation of their story centers around the Konnersport team and spans both the 2022 and 2023 F1 seasons.

Cooperation with Jamie Chadwick

After being bitter rivals in the previous iteration of Braking Point, both Butler and Jackson face pressure by new Formula 2 champion Callie Mayer, who is vying to take one of their seats - and is Butler's sister. This new chapter was developed in cooperation with three-time W Series champion and Williams F1 development driver Jamie Chadwick.

Aside from the story itself, presentation of the cutscenes has been improved to become more lifelike. Additionally, players will be rewarded for completing chapters with certain amounts of performance and reputation levels. Branching storyline parts are tied to decisions that are up to the player in key moments, as well as their results.

Introducing Multiplayer Divisions

The second part of the Deep Dive shows what players can look forward to in the F1 World hub: In this central hub, several types of content come together. Visually, it is a continuation of the F1 Life mode introduced in F1 22. Challenges and events that are updated as the real F1 season progresses allow players to earn upgrades to improve their cars. Taking part in the F1 Esports Series and ranked multiplayer are also possible in F1 World.

For the latter, divisions are introduced, making Ranked Multiplayer "a global leaderboard of the best players in the world", according to the Deep Dive. Other EA Sports games have similar online features, as they can be found in the FIFA and NHL series, for example. Higher divisions earn Podium Pass XP bonuses. Meanwhile, the road-going hypercars that were first introduced in F1 22 make a return in F1 World as well.

When you think about the career mode of F1 vs all other car games...

If only ACC, AMS2 etc had this it would be great.

But then it's always about cost... and that's just sad.

If only the F1 games were as realistic as ACC and AMS2…

But with EA, it’s all about money and that’s just sad.
Yes, after all, as always, for me it remains above all a leisure activity to have fun and decompress after work or part of the weekend.

Games based on mainstream series and with an exclusive license will always cater towards the mass, and not niches. This is logical and wise.
Remove exclusive licenses, and there is a chance to experience different style of F1 games.

I must say I do like story modes, I also love career modes.
What I don't like here, is that it does look like the F1 series is getting EA-ified... Online, online, online.

EA: Braking Point 2 continues the exciting story of Aiden Jackson, Casper Akkerman and Devon Butler

EA: Delists F1 2021 which is Braking Point 1

What an incredible move from the dickheads in marketing.

Oh, what about physics, car model...? Hahaha I'm a huge F1 fan since... I don't remember. I'm 45 year old and I didn't buy the F1 game the last 3 years. Ah no. I bought them, tried them and realized they were dissapointing. Steam gave back my money luckily. This one looks like won't change a thing about car handling and driving feeling. Ok, EA!

It's quite normal for the big exclusive license yearly games though. FIFA, Football Manager, F1-series etc. I know WRC, MotoGP and MXGP stays up for years, but it's nothing new when it comes to yearly games with licensing.

Story Mode? F1 Life? I don't understand a word of this.

"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting", as a famous racing driver and actor once stated.

So why wait?

EA has gone off track, deep into heavy gravel.

See how this rolls out. Bought them all, but all of the last 5 years or so had really bad motion antialiasing.

Asking extra money for some fantasy content (skins) is a bit too much.
Their prices already went up.

I will wait till it hits the discount bins. When all the bugs are ironed out.

Stop spending money on the wrong things EA :laugh::laugh::laugh:
We didn't care about BP1, so why would we care about BP2 ??
The characters are dull, the story is tedious and everything looks phony......

- Get a new game engine !! It's 2023 !!
- Re-model the tracks as 2023 not 2010 !!

I'm not remotely interested in a story. I choose a car, choose a track and have a race. My time is spent racing, the bit I like, rather than watching cut-scenes.

I'm a sports person so I grew up playing most of the top sports games. Once the investment went into "story modes" I left playing them. I get it serves a certain market for sure but at a cost of proper game development. F1 games have a lot to improve on. Career mode is fine but story mode again........nah thanks.

All that would be wasted on me because I wouldn't use any of it. I think for most proper sim titles it would be a complete waste of time and money. I'm interested in learning how to drive a simulated car, not become a simulated celebrity.

I'm getting a little tired of the recurring discussion about EA/Codemasters F1 games versus so-called real race simulators. Yes an F1 game does not drive the same as for example AC. And AC drives differently from rF2 and also differently from ACC or whatever. But we have left the time when the F1 games drove really bad behind us. F1 games are aimed at the general public and sims are for enthusiasts. Which you think is best or nicest is completely personal. Can everyone make their own choice and be happy with it?
