The wait has been longer than anticipated, as the start of the closed beta was postponed multiple times - but it is soon going to be over: RENNSPORT has announced that the first keys will be sent out in the summer, and more info is set to follow soon at the RENNSPORT Summit in Munich in early June.

During the ESL R1 Seminfinals, the first substantial update on the status of the closed beta since late January was given: It is finally going to launch this summer, and an exact date will be given at the RENNSPORT Summit. The event is going to take place on June 3rd and 4th in Munich. Sim racers can sign up to the waitlist here for their chance to receive a beta key - there are limited sign-ups, though. Half the keys will be sent out on a first come, first serve basis, the other half will be randomly sent out to the remaining racers who signed up.
More details about the Summit have been made available as well: While the first event of this kind was held as an invite-only event in May of 2022, the upcoming one is going to be open to attendance: Free tickets can be ordered here using the code SUMMIT23.
The main point of interest for most should be the closed beta release announcement, though. As the start of the program had been delayed repeatedly, criticism from the community became louder as many felt the sim being available for the esports elite while leaving out the larger community was unfair.
One of the new vehicles was teased on RENNSPORT's official Twitter: The outline of a prototype race car underscores that the sim wants to set its focus not solely on GT3 cars, but other categories as well. No further hints were given in addition to the car's outline.
