Automobilista 2: April Dev Update Confirms New Cars and Track - Hint at Le Mans?

Reiza Studios has recently made waves with the long-awaited release of the 1971 version of the Nürburgring for Automobilista 2 – the Brazilian developer continues to be hard at work, however: The final circuit for the Premium Track Pack, three new cars and more improvements on the physics and multiplayer side are coming soon.

With the current cycle of dev updates being released every other month, give or take, the outlook Reiza posts for upcoming updates to AMS2 tends to be substantial, and the most recent one is no exception. Reiza Head Renato Simioni even hinted at another highly-popular circuit to possibly join the growing roster of locations. For now though, here is what to expect from the next AMS2 update.

Cars

Undoubtedly the strong suit of AMS2, the sim's content is set to receive interesting additions. After having introduced the 2023 Stock Car Pro Series and the 71 Nürburgring recently, a vintage car that should feel right at home at the latter's Südschleife is coming in the Formula Junior – these small 1960s single-seaters are light and low on power, providing close and exciting racing that the many vintage tracks of the sim should be a perfect stage for.

On the modern end, the Sigma P1 G5 will extend the P1 class based on the Brazilian Endurance championship. The prototype racer is an evolution of the original Sigma P1, which can already be found in AMS2.

To round out the list of new vehicle releases, a car that had been shelveld last summer is finally going to see the light of day – kind of: Instead of a licensed version of the Dallara IR-18 IndyCar that the Motorsport Games standalone game of the series prevented, a somewhat fictionalized version is coming, adding another generation to the Formula USA already in the sim.

The almost-IndyCar comes with aero configurations for road and street circuits as well as short ovals and superspeedways.

Tracks

Meanwhile, the sixth track of the Premium Track Pack has been revealed – the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain is coming! Opened in 1991 and host to Formula 1 ever since, the track should serve several open-wheel and prototype classes in AMS2 well. Recently, the circuit has been in the headlines for axing its controversial chicane complex in favor of a faster, more flowing final sector as it was until 2006. The track is scheduled to be released in time for the Spanish Grand Prix, which takes place on June 4th.

This put a damper on the expectations of those who were hoping for Le Mans to be the sixth track of the Premium Track Pack – but they may still have something to look forward to, as Simioni hinted at in another forum post.

Never try to convince an useless reader like you, i have 45 years old, i prácticed driving on a Clio Williams, a 944 and a F360 and was Race Marshall during 2 years...but is nothing compare to someone who plays Ams2 or Gran Turismo, call me when you touch reality one day
Aside from not being very impressive, its certainly not reason to carry on like a porkchop.

There's a few members in this thread that need to tone down the insults.
AMS2 and rF2 discussions in particular for some reason seem to provoke an almost toxic reaction in some, mostly from those who don't play them.
So why grudge enjoyment for those fellow sim racers who do.

You seem to epitomise my point. You don't play the game but feel the need to post in the thread achieving nothing other than to provoke others.
You've made your point so that's enough.

I write everything i want, this is free, if you don't like muy point of view don't read me, i bought some DLC's like Nordschleife, Spa or Usa part1, so i could talk from my experience in this game, on 2024 Kunos will release Assetto Corsa 2, and that's Will be the death for Ams2..until that Reiza could stilo telling nonsense for this "great game" ...enjoy the bugs, try to rent a server and organize a championship for your community in Ams2 like me, after It you could comprehend you are wrong

You are 46 years old, and you still behave like this?

Guess you maybe still spend too much time indoors, maybe go touch reality a little bit more, and your keyboard a little bit less ;)

[Opens window to let the toxic air, and all the noisey mosquitos out]

I've just passed 1000 hours on AMS2, and most of that is online racing. I also just logged 1000 hours on rF2 and that is all online. Incredible to me that AMS2 has caught up to rf2 as my main sim. I like them both and have pretty much parked the others for now. I am so looking forward to the improvements coming with the 1.5 release, and very hopeful of MP improvements as the sheer range of historic content demands more hours of online racing...Huzzah!

I agree with @Redvaliant
The toxicity of some people is just ridiculous.
I'm using AMS2 (1000 hrs), RF2 and ACC and they all have their share of quite obvious physics unrealistic points which are pretty evident to anyone who knows about vehicle dynamics.
Being a marshal counts for nothing apart from just being cocky and annoying to other people.
So many people fall for certain developers marketing because they are just ignorant.
And they come trolling here.

Sir you are 45, can you please behave like a 45 years old mature person instead of screeching like a spoiled child on the forums? I'm sure everyone will appreciate that.

You prefer other sim titles? good you can spend time playing them instead of picking virtual fights with whoever enjoys AMS 2. I wish you a wonderful day sir.

Guys can we please try to get back on topic, rather than replying and prolonging the argument.
I've asked him to desist so it's not helping encouraging yet another reply.

Though tbh it IS a bit hard discussing the game normally without all these sim racing Karens hating on the game.

If you look at the comments here and on YouTube it is always the same bunch of haters too. Probably some bot farm in Uganda.

That is quiet surprising. As partly responsible for these bashing comments because of my post about a more or less unvoluntary general trend in content creators, not even mentionning my own opinion about AMS2 (which just shows how much blind haters, whatever the game, just jump on any opportunity for some bashing and insulting time), I got something really positive from this discussion : I have to try this Race Craft system for AMS2. I've been away from online sim racing for a long time and it seems a good way to come back, without the involvment in a league (I would hate to register in a league and not being able to participate on a regular basis).

Also, I've just read the zntiee laqt post.from Reiza on its development forum, it is refreshing to read how involved and motivated the team is. The 1.5 update seems indeed a good step ahead in the physics department, and we should have a taste of them with the last released cars in May. Can't wait to put my hands on them.

What is really positive is that Reiza seems to really. Know what the team is doing. Yes it is slow (personnally I was expecting that and, as not being able to dedicate a lot of time to this hobby for some years, I'm not in a hurry) but I'm confident with Reiza's team talent and motivation.

As I've stated in the Rennsport last topic, modern sims development isnmore than 5 years so I don't expect any of the new announced sims to be competent when they are out in early access in one or 2 years (they will get their early years of hating and bashing too).

This madness engine still is promising and Reiza is on the way to make it shine.

The 1.5 update will also include some work on the netcode, it may seem too little for the multiplayer but each thing on its time, better polishing the netcode before going into further miltiplayer features development.

Le Mans not being announced seems a disappointment but I wonder if Reiza just count on the community to concert the trackq from Pcars2. At least, at the momenr, in Reiza's place, that's what I would do. It must be heavily ressources consuming to work on the Le Mans tracks, and this could be a later dlc, making the community wait for them with modded versions.

Other good piece of news about the 1.5 June update, the oval physics improvements.

Patience is the word.... those not enjoying the game (and having a copy), just wait for further development before launching it. That's what I did with AC (the free demo, if you were a nektar pro owner, was so bad, a slow abarth with no sense of speed - issue just fixed by CSP with the motion blur effect) and ACC, and what I should have done with Raceroom which had been a huge disappointment for a long time.after its release and now feels amazing. You will just avoid some frustration and hate in your life. Raceroom is a relevant example to compare with AMS2 : I expected qomething similar to Race07 when.it was out, but nothing close, it felt bad, with less features. And the game was.using an proprierary engine based on ISI's engine Simbin knew perfectly. It was worse than AMS2 at its launch. It is now a solid experience. There is no reason Reiza won't do the job, it is also a passionate and competent team.

mod-tracks would be a game change
There are a few tracks conversions from pcars2. It would indeed make more sense to focus on modded tracks creations than cars which become obsolete with each physics update. It must be a difficult task as I don't think the pcars games received any modded track. Reiza stated it would facilitate the modding in the future, there is hope.

Amazing! Speaking about good informative content, perfect video.

Someone has tried rhe adaptive AI? I wonder what happens if several players with really different levels get in the same race with rhis adaptove AI does it form distinct groups? Adapt to the faster driver?
It averages out the pace when there are multiple drivers. If it is just you vs AI it starts at a baseline of 100 and then adapts with each race. It normally only takes 1 race to adapt. The aim is not for you to be able to beat the AI every time, but to be competitive and more or less mid pack. It works really well IMO. There have been grumblings about the AI being too aggressive, but that's not set server side and RCO can't control it. I've had good results by lowering my AI aggresssion locally. It seems to carry over to the multiplayer AI.

It would be interesting to have this adaptative AI offline (with some tweaking to give the player an opportunity to be at least in the top 3 in a race). Tha ks for the feedback, I still have to try it.
