EA Sports F1 23 Cover Star Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.jpg
Not much has been revealed about F1 23 yet, but in the tradition of other sports games, EA Sports have unveiled the cover stars for the upcoming edition of the official Formula One game - who are likely not much of a surprise to fans of the sport. More info on the title is scheduled to be released soon as well.

After featuring Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc and George Russell on the cover of the F1 22 Standard Edition, as well as Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel on the Champions Edition cover, the personnel count for the F1 23 artwork has been reduced, but there are still going to be different covers for the two editions.

Reigning Champion to Feature

The spotlight for the new game will shine on Verstappen: The 2021 and 2022 World Champion has recently signed a partnership agreement with EA Sports to create content with the publisher. As a result, it is a logical consequence for the Dutchman to be featured on the cover of F1 23's Champions Edition.

For the Standard Edition, familiar faces return to the artwork: Seven-time World Champion and Mercedes driver Hamilton will adorn the cover alongside Ferrari ace Leclerc and McLaren pilot Norris.

New Story Mode Teased

While the official announcement for F1 23 is scheduled to drop on May 3rd, 5pm CEST, an intricate announcement of Devon Butler's new team called Konnersport has been released ahead of time. Butler served as the antagonist in earlier Braking Point story modes in the F1 series and seems to be back with his own team and car for F1 23.

A presentation video featuring racing driver and presenter Naomi Schiff as the host suggests that the next chapter of Braking Point - which might return under a different name - is imminent in F1 23.

Well at least mid-field gets a spot on regular cover. Champion edition could have Alonso and George "Dickhead" Russell too though.

The effort they put in really shows!

Seriously speaking, I enjoy F1 22 in VR, have not bought a single sofa in the game, and am cautiously optimistic that they are going to bring back features from earlier games.

I honestly don't care what's on the cover. It's what's on the inside that counts.

Has dedicated server support been added for this year's edition or is it still work-in-progress (since 2010)?

Garbage VR like in F1 22 = no buy.
Also shouldn't the srandard edition cover consist of drivers who were in the Top 3 of last year or if not due to the Champion Edition, be it the drivers in 2.nd, 3.rd and 4.th ? But that would make too much sense.
EDIT: Have a look EA, it takes about 10 extra minutes to make a cover art that doesn't look like trash.

Not much has changed with cars or rules….so far F1 23 is an option to spend money on copy, paste and update.

They really need to bring a polished bug free game this time.

I’ll only be buying F1 titles once on sale.

Another story mode? Oh well… More time and resources spent developing a little Saturday morning cartoon instead of making sure the game is bug-free on release. And as usual, you can expect the 2023 F2 liveries in October.

Braking point doesn't interest me, but I would love to see a more refined My Team. The ability to build your own team from basically nothing makes it far more engaging than just running a series of individual races over and over again.

Given Max's public slagging of past versions of Codie's/EA's F1 series, does this mean that F1 23 now rates as a proper sim in the young World Champion's eyes? Or will Max's involvement be more akin to Rocky Balboa's brief, unconvincing pitch for Beast Aftershave?

Max is also being blamed for being on a cover, the man can never do it right :roflmao:
The poor man. Do you also work at skysports F1??

What do you think? He just takes a lot of money from them. just like the new Fifa football game every year, you think Lionel Messi cares about the realism of such a football game.

What a weird, rather misplaced diatribe ... Messi the man has less of a presence in the day-to-day football sim universe compared to Max's visible and persistent participation in the sim racing one. Obviously, only a fool would deny Max's standing as the greatest F1 driver on planet Earth at the moment; he rightfully takes his place in line, as a peer, behind Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso, Schumacher, Senna, Prost, et al. stretching back to Fangio in the modern era. Fans can have their debates about how this Great from one time was better or worse than that Great from another time, but to deny Max’s place within the Pantheon is simply willful ignorance. Like him or not, until he is dethroned, Max Verstappen is the current measuring stick in F1.

However, Max's vocal dismissal of prior F1 gaming titles stands in stark relief to this year's partnership with EA; I only wish that this new relationship symbolized meaningful advancements in F1 23 as a simulation....

Let's be honest, it's impossible to have a bug-free game on release, no matter the game. We are not in the '90s anymore.
The only thing we can hope, is to have a game with just few bugs to correct on release... :D

Most racing sims feature racing cars on their cover because that's what their client base is after.

Makes me wonder whether Codemaster's target group are teenage girls because it's mostly them who will find these covers interesting.
