Assetto Corsa | Official Radical SR3 XXR Mod Released

Radical Motorsport, working together with URD, just released a new mod for Assetto Corsa. Introducing the SR3 XXR, this officially announced mod is available to download here on RaceDepartment.

I still remember the days of the hype when KTM released the X-Bow officially for Assetto Corsa. Now, a relatively similar car has joined the roster and is available to drive in the 2014 racing simulator.

The mod, a joint venture between UnitedRacingDesign and Radical Motorsport, brings the new SR3 XXR to digital motorsport fans across the globe.

The Radical SR3 XXR

This newest edition of the SR3 model brings and updates design and engineering to the racetrack. It features:
  • liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder, 1340cc or 1500cc
  • biofuel ready
  • six-speed integral sequential gearbox
  • mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive
  • lightweight spaceframe chassis with FIA-specification safety cell
  • nik-link suspension
  • more features can be found on the official Radical website for the SR3

The Mod

In under 24 hours, the mod has already garnered almost 2000 downloads and has received staggering reviews so far.

The only critique points that exist are minor things. However, it receives great praise for being a fun and nimble car. Handling, sound and the detailed model receive praise across the board.

This mod is sure to handle single-car races well around, especially more complex tracks with many different corner situations. I can imagine tracks like Autodrom Most, Thruxton, Okayama and, surprisingly, Cadwell Park to work really well with this small and nimble car.

Download the official Radical SR3 XXR here on RaceDepartment.

Lets hear how this car drives from some reviewers.
In some other sims this car drives pretty good :D

Very nice, thank you to UnitedRacingDesign and Radical Motorsport, even though we have a ton of mod cars available with new ones every week, it is always appreciated when work of this caliber is offered, particularly when it is free.
I know it is not going to happen, but, for one, I would gladly pay Kunos for DLC for AC, as, to this day, it is still where I spend the bulk of my sim driving time.

read the first sentence of the article. That should answer your question. :)
But there's nothing 'official' about it. It's like saying 'An Official Apple addon.' Yet Apple had nothing to do with it. They really need to be more careful how they use terms. If you asked Kunos, they would say it's not official. I know everyone will argue that, but legally, there's nothing 'official' about it. In fact, if you go to either UnitedRacing or Radical Motorsport's websites, the word 'Official' is never mentioned. RD really needs to remove this from the title.

The Radical SR3 is my favorite car in a racing sim. I've done the most laps in it by far compared to any car. I like to compare the same car on the same track in different racing sims. I had done that before with the Radical SR3 that was made a while ago for Assetto Corsa. That has influenced my image of Assetto Corsa as a race simulator quite a bit. The force feedback is very flat in that older version for Assetto Corsa. I feel very little detail of the road surface in it. The physics in this new version of the Radical SR3 feel pretty much the same to me as the older version, but the force feedback is a lot more detailed. I feel much more detail of the road surface, not as much as in rFactor 2 but a long way in that direction. In most cars in Assetto Corsa I feel less details of the road surface compared to rFactor 2. I thought Assetto Corsa was the cause of this. From experience I already knew that it matters a lot who made the physics and force feedback for a car in a racing sim. The difference between a very good car and a bad car in the same racing sim can be many times greater than the difference between a racing sim and another racing sim in general. This new Radical SR3 has shown me that the force feedback in Assetto Corsa can be much better than I am used to from many other cars.

I mean It says Official " Mod " not official content. Official meaning the company that produces the car gave the modders official data from the real car. And officially endorse the mod. Hence the "official" title. Also, this is the "official" email I received from URD ;)
