The year is slowly coming to an end. 2022 has been a year of many ups and downs. Both overall and in sim racing. So let's take a look back at what everyone's year has been like. Today, we're asking the question: What's your most played sim in 2022?

DISCLAIMER: Before anyone complains, this is a large list. It includes some titles that may not be considered "hardcore sims". But that doesn't matter. We are all racing fans at heart. So let's stay united.

With that disclaimer out of the way, let me tell you a bit about my personal sim racing experiences this year.

I have come to the conclusion that my time spent on the rig has decreased compared to 2020 and 2021. Out of the games I played this year, RaceRoom takes the crown. But I have barely touched it in the 2nd half of the year. The reason is simple: the league I raced in now switched to ACC.

Therefore, my 2nd most played sim is ACC since that switch. And there I have been mostly streaming the races. So all of my ACC "seat time" is actually commentating time.

rFactor 2 is 3rd on my list of sims. And the playtime was almost exclusively in Q1 of 2022.

Personally, I just hope I get a bit more free time in 2023 to do what I love once again: Racing.

I hadn't been into any sort of computer gaming until the UK lockdowns due to COVID.
It's no surprise then that I have spent far less time doing this since we are now back to normal; well pretty much.
One of the issues is that for the sim racer's family it's a very isolating hobby.
It doesn't sit very well if after a week of working you want to spend several hours of your valuable free time sat in a rig away from the other members of your family.

In the UK we have also had some long, hot, dry summer months in 2022 so I guess most people have been less likely to want to be indoors.

Of course, as @Ole Marius Myrvold and @Jimlaad43 show, there is always at least one "exception to the rule" ;)

But for me rF2 wins hands down

ACC. I bought some new stuff this year, (pedals,cockpit,monitor) and I used ACC to get everything tuned.

The plan for 2023 is:
  1. Pick one track starting Sunday
  2. Spend all week practicing the track every day, hot lapping in ACC, AC, PC2, AMS2 and RF2
  3. Saturday, set up an AI race weekend consisting of practice, quali, race, alternating the sim used for the race each week.
  4. Move to a new track the next Sunday and repeat.
So far with just the tracks that are common to all of these sims for GT3, this schedule will last until the first week of July.

I bought them, I am driving them. No more "favorite sim". Good drivers drive everywhere.

RF2. Very flawed game but the way multiclass racing works in this game is so addictive. Massive grids on many tracks I love while I can do absurd combination like LMP1 with BTCC. That turned rf2 in some weird NFS like traffic car evading game because the BTCCs are so slow.

I do admit that Raceroom and AMS2 are so criminally underplayed by me. AMS2 in particular, the new open wheels added in backer beta are sounds interesting to drive.

But I must admit Carx Drift as a honorable mention. Quite entertaing
