rFactor 2 Christmas DLC Completed With Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992)


After the recent announcement of a Christmas pack coming to rFactor 2, the 2nd car for the pack was announced. Introducing the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992).

Indeed a surprise for anyone, but a pleasant one. This newest generation of the Porsche GT3 Cup leaves little to be desired regarding the level of racing.

Already known from other games, though in older variants, Porsche Cup racing always lends to close grids. It allows for close racing, and finally, being able to race it for rFactor 2 lends to so many possibilities.

With the modding capabilities of the sim, you can soon race one of the most interesting one-make series on just about any track that has been digitally created.

BTCC 2022 Update and BOP Are Also Coming + Hybrid system later?​

The 2022 liveries and BOP are coming. Okay. Moving on.

Arguably the biggest announcement in the BTCC 2022 post was the TOCA Hybrid which would be coming in Q1 of 2023.

Studio 397 announced in the post that a full-on hybrid functionality was in development and (hopefully) ready to deploy for the Q1 2023 update. This allows all hybrid fans to rejoice! All the possibilities that come to mind...

On the top of my personal list would be the development of further LMH cars with their hybrid system.

I think the 'Flat 6' RF2 car is the most immersive, but this 992 GT3 Cup is also a nice ride. And without TC and ABS(?) it feels seat of the pants, PLUS it looks great.
I also have the URD AC GT3 Cup and the iRacing one GT3 Cup car, mmm probably I like the AC car the most and runner up this RF2 car, iRacing no contest (I somewhat hate iRacing, but I'm too big of a subscriber through the years sorry)

a enchantment this Porsche, however i know it well on the other sims but the sound, the ffb, the physics in short an immersion like no other! :thumbsup:
 
hello everyone, I wanted to know if you could answer an important question 'in my eyes' did you know if the porsche cup 992 is an EU or US version that for me I have the impression that it's the US version for those who don't know the eu version does not have abs and tc and the us version has abs and tc.

you can turn off the ABS and traction control from the options as they are on as default. Not sure if this is what you mean though.
 
Studio 397 did a magnificent job with this 992 cup Porsche. It feels, sounds and looks amazing! I just did a comparison video between the 992 in rF2 and ACC and I have to say that both of them are top notch.
Nice comparison, but the 992 Cup in rF2 make ACC and iRacing look silly. The ACC-version had the dynamics, the iRacing-version much better racing-lines and general handling. The rF2 992 combines both together while being superior in major aspects. I'm almost ashamed I only paid 5 bucks for this sim-racing masterpiece:D

PS: I had my doubt that rF2 delivers such a great car, because I definitely prefer the AMS2 version of the 991 Cup since their latest major physics-update. I was watching over two dozen 992-Cup-races and following a team who is racing the 991-Cup. If you watch the races and onboards, it's kind of obvious how they handle and certainly not like in ACC or iRacing.
 
I purchased the 992 along with the Vauxhall last evening.....(haven't tried that one yet).
I use a MOZA R9 with the CS rim.
Immediately during the first right-hander at Nurburgring with all identical AI, the wheel pulled to the right.
The next turn is left and again it pulled in that direction.
It acted almost as if the caster angle was positive...no self-centering.
It very well has to be a setup or settings issue, since all I've done so far is purchase, load and launched the car.
I can feel the potential in just the short bit of road I drove between those two corners.
S397' cars usually feel pretty solid out of the gate.
This is actually the first time I have ever experienced bad handling on an initial drive.
Will need time to look at the wheel's 540 degree default settings to see if that had any influence.

I was hyped but at the end I don't like it that much cause it lacks of feeling during braking for me which is problematic with car without abs
in other officially released rF2 cars without abs I just can feel how should I behave during braking and when wheel locks, here I can't at all but in other aspects it feels nice so little bit sad there is no version with abs especially when these cars using few different specs irl (no assists, abs, abs/tc and only tc also?) with the way rFactor works would be nice to have option to swap versions like u swappin aero packages without installing any mods
but beside of that it sounds and looks good (with some minor dashboard problems where numbers glitching sometimes)

this version don't have abs and tc but it can be enabled as a fake assists in single player or via workshop magic files that adds different specs
 
How different is the 992 from the previous 911 cup car in rfactor 2?
Which 991 Cup Car? There is the default, Endurance soft and Endurance hard. All versions seems to have in common that you want to setup far lower tyre-pressures and the default aero with the 991 is the lowest, so the car drives pretty much like :poop: if you don't fix that and the Endurance soft is the better start anyway.

The 992 Cup just comes with one version and has a far better default setup, but lower the tyre-pressure as well and maybe add more wing if you like. It feels quite different and more between a well setup 991 and GT3 R. They are all Porsche 911 like the 964, 997 and others, which seems to apply to all Porsche rear-engine cars if I'm not mistaken. At least they all have this VW beetle derived shape.
