rFactor 2 Goes Proper Endurance with Vanwall Vandervell LMH Reveal

Fitting to the previous announcement of Bahrain coming to rFactor 2 in their Q4 content drop, the first LMH is coming to the racing sim. This Vanwall Vandervell LMH marks the beginning of the new WEC era in sim racing.

Perfectly fitting with 2 previous announcements, the new Hypercar era is lighting up the sim racing scene.

First, rFactor 2 announced Bahrain for presumed WEC usage, then iRacing announced the BMW LMDh to be included and now rFactor tops the Q4 announcement with a beautiful first look at the first LMH car to be added.

The Vanwall Vandervell LMH for the sim was created by Vanwall themselves, using their data and therefore this DLC car aims to give as realistic an onlook as rFactor 2 allows.

This announcement seems to pave the way for Motorsport Games' rFactor 2 to take on the sim route of their acquired licenses. While the rest of the studio may still work on dedicated games for the BTCC or WEC licenses, Studio 397 goes the hardcore sim racing route.

Now what remains to be seen is when these content licenses will be fulfilled by. Judging by the current rate of DLC release, the full BTCC grid could be completed rather quickly, while a full WEC grid would take quite some more.

With Toyota, Glickenhaus, Peugeot, Ferrari and a possible Isotta Fraschini still looming for the LMH category, LMDh still needs to be completely populated. With Porsche and Cadillac aiming to run in the 2023 WEC season too, that makes a possible 7 cars that would need to be included still to feature a full WEC 2023 grid.

Furthermore, it was announced that the following 2 days would feature both a circuit as well as a feature announcement, so stay tuned for that.

What do you think of this reveal? Looking forward to endurance events with an LMH? Let us know in the comments down below!

I almost feel bad for modders these days.
Feels like over half of the content that rF2 comes with is content that modders have provided for free lately.
I guess Fuji will come within the next year :p

EDIT: To clarify, there's no modded Vanwall :)

Great, official LMH, will it be free or paid contend?
I'm eager to see the hybrid/ers systems implementation for modders to takes their hands on it and create modern cars from f1 to endurance, there still no such thing as hybrid power system in rf2 (if I recall correctly)

Tomorrow's Q4 reveal is a "Feature" apparently. The rF2 discord thinks it would be the hybrid system. Not confirmed, however, gotta wait until tomorrow.

This car doesnt use hybrid, if tomorrows Feature reveal is not hybrid you will have to wait for that longer

Maybe it's my older eyes but do the shots of the latest BMW and this car look a bit strange to anyone else? The paint lacks depth/definition and the taillights on the Bimmer looked a bit off as well.

It all does look kind of matte. But other rf2 cars still have the best looking paint shaders, especially when wet.

There IS the LMP1 By Kolles car that was modded by ASM.
ENSO CLM P1/01 ByKolles LMP1 car
But that is NOT the same car, similar, but different category, it fit in with the LMP1 ALPINE/Rebellion.

Unbelievable, we have not seen any prices yet for the Q4 2022 content drop and some people are complaining about prices again already. And you can always wait for a Steam Sale. Last week I paid €20 for 5 karts and 10 karting tracks for example.

Back ON TOPIC… I have been hoping for official hypercars for quite a while and there it is! Hopefully a start of more hypercars to come, so we can properly simulate next year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. Keep it coming Studio 397!

Do you prefer licensed hardware?

  • Yes for me it is vital

  • Yes, but only if it's a manufacturer I like

  • Yes, but only if the price is right

  • No, a generic wheel is fine

  • No, I would be ok with a replica
