Dior announces partnership with Gran Turismo (and leaks next update date)

In a revelation that will surely raise some eyebrows, a collaboration between Gran Turismo and iconic french fashion luxury brand Dior was annouced prior to the racing action during the first day of Salzburg esport live event.

Dior's designers have worked on creating a set of racing gear to be added to the game, including a racing suit, gloves, boots and a helmet. The DeTomaso Mangusta has also been chosen as a base for a customized special edition of the car, which will be added in GT7 alongside the other items on August 25th, according to the official Gran Turismo statement - effectively leaking the next update's release date.

This collaboration seems unexpected, when a game like the upcoming Test Drive Unlimited : Solar Crown would have seemed like a much better fit for a high luxury fashion brand, since character customisation and luxury are staples of the TDU series. One can wonder now if the next Gran Turismo esport events will features players wearing Dior items.

Do you think a brand like this being introduced in simracing is a good or bad thing, or does it leave you uninterested ?

Polyphony Digital has gone full on Electronic Arts.

What kind of loot boxes could they add to the game in the future?

How about Richard Mille watches while we are at it?

At least, Richard Mille is a substantial sponsor of racing series the world over.
Probably not for long as the Oligarchs can't get their money out of Russia to buy them at the moment.

They were pretty much the only ones buying those tasteless timepieces, well, apart from the odd second rate rapper.

GT7 is again raising the bar for realism for race simulators! Lately I was annoyed by the lack of choice in racing clothes in all the simulators that I play. Fortunately GT7 filled that void and I hope they also add some casual clothing, shoes and jewellery for when I walk in my virtual garage!

Hey man, if that's your bag then get into F1 22 - I even bought some shelves for my pad the other day, and I'm looking at a rather nice rug that'll set the shelves off quite nicely.

Appreciate the advice, but I guess you missed the sarcasm part in my comment. ;)

GT news is now like some sort of gossip page. There's nothing much more of substance that will happen to the game. They aren't ever going to radically change the handling model and physics and the only thing of any importance will be VR.

I'd rather they focus on fixing the damn game and adding the features they promised at release instead of stuffing bs like this into the game...

Also, I don't really think gamers (or racing gamers/sim racers in this case) are a type of audience a brand like Dior would normally target... so a partnership between Dior and PD baffles me completely...
