F1 22 Championship Edition Launch Just Hours Away

If you have pre-purchased the Championship Edition of F1 22, June 28 is when you can already be playing the new title by Codemasters and EA. Ahead of the release, a new launch trailer has been published.

“We can’t wait for players to jump into the game, and the trailer perfectly captures the excitement and emotion of competing at the highest level for the World Championship,” said Paul Jeal, F1 Senior Franchise Director at Codemasters. “Players will experience the ecstasy of taking their seat in the new era of Formula 1 and driving the car to the limit and beyond.”

F1 22 lets players live the life of a Formula 1 driver on and off the track. Alongside competing for the 2022 FIA World Championship™ in new revolutionary cars designed for greater competition, players can now experience rewards away from the circuit with the introduction of F1 Life. The new social hub allows players to personalise their avatar and apartment and show off their collection of supercars. Once acquired, the cars can be driven in the Pirelli Hot Lap feature, replicating the early part of the race weekend.

F1 22 Champions Edition featuring additional content and three days of early access, will release on June 28, 2022, for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC via Origin and Steam. The Standard Edition will release on Friday, July 1, 2022.

Have you purchased the Championship Edition with 3 days of early access? If so, will you be playing tomorrow already? Let us know in the comments below!

Really hoping they nail the VR implementation!!

Oh...I don't mean for me (as I don't have or plan to get VR), but man I can already see the metaphorical pitchforks if they **** the bed on VR performance/quality :roflmao:

Also, after that new trailer, get ready for the "How is Leclerc the new poster-boy for F1 games, when Max is WDC?" complaints...oh man, can't wait

Has to be better than the ACC implementation. Or at least it can't be that much worse. Hoping it gets the 10 hour trial treatment on EA Play.

Well Leclerc, Norris, Albon and Russell streamed a lot of the F1 game during lockdown, while Max wasn't part of that... And still isn't.

Oh No Im going to wait for peoples own experiences and reviews before I take the plunge.
I can tell you straight out that it's going to be a very rocky road until at least October/November, as has been the case with every other F1 game.

I probably won't buy this part.

I have absolutely no interest in giving my money to the most destructive and disgusting gaming company worldwide and then also having to install their stupid launcher and agree on 3rd party DRM on top of Steam.

You were cool in the beginning, but now you're the worst. Thanks for destroying Codemasters.

Wait, is it confirmed that you need Origin running even if you buy on Steam? Might as well buy on Origin then (sooner or later).

At least for me it says on the Steam page that I have to have Origin installed, need an account there and I also have to agree to their DRM.
3rd party DRM. EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required.
Requires a third-party account: EA Account
Requires approval of a third-party EULA
I roughly translated this from the German Steam page, maybe the wording is a bit different on the English page.

One launcher is enough for me, and that's Steam. I won't install games that require an extra account and force me to agree to other DRM measures on top of Steam and install more launchers that I don't need at all.

I was going to get this release day, having to install an extra layer of software has put me off. I've heard pseple having issues with origin.

I heard there's no cross play too..?

Mainly buying because of VR, but I don't trust EA... I'll wait for some honest feedback from people here.

Strange that they start enforcing this now when F1 2021 was also an "EA" game. It doesn't matter for me too much though. I also prefer having stuff on Steam for convenience but it's not a dealbreaker.

Premium
100 pages of upset customers on Steam , they paid extra for early release but it never released . Sad, EA Bad Sports

As much as I dislike EA it's actually Steam that have screwed the early access release. If you bought anywhere else then it's up and running, minus the usual server problems.

F*ck you EA.
Can you (or you, or him) kindly summarize the issue now for gaming dummies like me?
What is DRM? like they don't allow you to stream videos of it because they own the content and not you? I don't want to speculate, I am interested to understand instead.
Why do I see people saying EA is bad everywhere on Youtube? what have they done?

Do you prefer licensed hardware?

  • Yes for me it is vital

  • Yes, but only if it's a manufacturer I like

  • Yes, but only if the price is right

  • No, a generic wheel is fine

  • No, I would be ok with a replica
