Developer Milestone has released the first trailer for the 2022 edition of the official MotoGP game.

MotoGP 22 will be released to PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch on April 21st, and developer Milestone has now shared the first trailer and a bit more information about what to expect from the latest title in the series.

In addition to the latest season of MotoGP action, players will also be able to relive the 2009 season. Milestone has also shared news that split-screen play will be featured in the title.

Playing the 2009 season will be the only way to enjoy playing as one of the sports greatest stars, Valentino Rossi, since he will no longer be competing in the MotoGP series.

The 2022 season of MotoGP will span 21 events from the 6th of March to the 6th of November, and visit popular sim racing circuits such as Circuit of the Americas, Algarve, Mugello, Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring.

This was strictly a cinematic trailer, and no gameplay has been shared yet. Milestone will be looking to build on the success of the 2021 edition, which is currently enjoying over 80% positive reviews on Steam.

OK, here's a stupid question: how do you play a motobike racing sim and get the most immersion out of it. Because neither a wheel nor a gamepad do provide that, right ? And I don't think there is motorbike hardware available for sim racing.

It was hard for me too but i eventually learned. It clicked all of a sudden. Then i didnt like it. Not realistic enough. Like turning left/right is slower than real life for example.

Same here... Once you get it down you realize how bad the AI is and how different the physics are to real life bikes...

The AI is what ultimately killed it for me though... I can put myself in game mode for the shorter MotoGP races, but the fact at even high difficulty levels the AI leaves the corner faster but coasts on every long straight before a corner like they are low on fuel... Given that I never run out of fuel even when starting out with my own team that needs development... They shouldn't be coasting that badly... Or dive bombing me after I've gone past them coasting when there's no room...

Easy, use your wheel and limit the rotation to 120 degrees. +/- 60 on a wheel is very intuitive, just like tilting the bike. It's exactly the mechanics of a purpose built handlebar sim after all.

I will be missing this year unless they sort out the AI. ANNA has been a dismal failure. Both the motogp and ride games suffered badly from rubbish AI.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. I've been thinking about buying an older game to see if this is something that I get some fun out. But the question of a controller always was a roadblock. I don't like gamepads. Maybe now I give it a try
 
Long, long ago I tried some of the motorcading games but the big problem was; none had steering wheel support!

I want to try again, for fun, but in my sim, there is only (room for) the wheel and I have to be able to use it.

So, is that already "fixed", does anyone know?
 
Gp Bikes, out on Steam has wheel support. It's also pretty good considering it's early stage of development.
There's a growing modding community, so tracks and bikes are available.
I particularly like the 500cc GP bikes, crazy power AND ffb? Definitely needs some good skills to ride them quickly.
As for Motogp series? They are going backwards. The easy solution was x360ce. Now it seems they are making that more difficult to use.
So yes, good point. Better AI required but first let me use the controller I want to use!!!!

TT Isles too has wheel support, i dont know why this wont.
 
I think the devs have lost their way a bit. The game franchise isn't really moving forward.
The tyre temps are as crude as could be, same for tyre wear. I can't make out any difference between the bikes either.
So when you look at the elements that make the game, it's nothing to get excited about. Shame.

Gyroscopic controller is fun. Or stick a cellphone with gyro on a gamepad that has a cellphone holder, download a wheel emulator app (Touch Racer for instance) and have fun. At least you get a bit of the leaning in feeling, it's really hard though.
