American Truck Sim Version 1.44 To Bring Eight New Special Transport Routes

American Truck Sim Special Transport 01.jpg
An upcoming update to American Truck Simulator will see the Special Transport DLC get eight new routes.

Perhaps the most chill way to enjoy simulated driving is by enjoying some time in Euro or American Truck Simulator. But for those who enjoy a challenge mixed in with their fun and relaxation, there will soon be eight fresh missions in ATS' Special Transport DLC.

The new routes will be added when the title moves to version 1.44. The unusually difficult transports will span Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, New Mexico, Idaho and Colorado. Here is a list of the new missions:

  • Lewiston to Sandpoint
  • Burlington to Lamar
  • Salina to Cedar City
  • Omak to Yakima
  • Dalles to Salem
  • Santa Fe to Socorro
  • Cheyenne to Rock Springs
  • Winnemucca to Carson City

Are you an American Truck Sim fan? What about Euro Truck Sim? Let us know in the comments below why you enjoy driving these sims.

I really liked both ATS and ETS 2 when I still played them with a controller/keyboard and when I got my first steering wheel I thought that I'd play those games much more than before. Flash forward to now, I don't even play them anymore as racing simulators became way more interesting to me.

I think racing Formula 1 cars at 300km/h broke me :roflmao:

Those truck driving simulator are popular, looking at Steam Charts, they have, by SIM standards, a solid player base.
I have the Euro Truck simulator, I had it for a long time, but I have very little time in it, either in VR or Pancake.
To me the only two similarities are I can use my wheel in both and it involves driving, but as an experience they are totally different than driving/racing cars in a SIM.
I guess it mirrors, my IRL interest. I might in an other life, have elected to drive trucks as a job to earn a living, but I am willing to pay to drive a sport car on track on even on the road, just for the fun of it.

I don’t have a lot of hours on this game/sim but it’s a nice change where you don’t have to be completely focused on hitting your marks trying to get the best laps like you do when sim racing. I usually listen to a podcast or music while driving from city to city and I think that’s one of the best parts of this sim, seeing the different buildings. landmarks, cars and such when you leave or enter a city.

I like ATS coz its total opposite of competition driving. Turn on own music, jump in your customized truck, get a trailer, drink your favourite drink and keep rollin through Usa.
With wheel, pedals, shifter and some modifictions to use 18 gears and of course VR.
This is a completly chilling art of driving. But sometims with big rigs not easy which is a cool thing.
Game is really good supported and some other companies could take example from SCS.
Would be cool when better graphics/new engine would be implemented (or release of ATS2)

own both ETS2 and ATS, and enojy most ATS rather than ETS2, don't know why honestly.

As testdriver said, both Trucks Sims are completly different of being racing wheel to wheel, bumper to bumper on AC, rFactor or any other racing sims; and good to see SCS constatly improving their games, both ETS2 (i'm awaiting russia expansion since they announced it) and ATS (by reworking existing localtions)

Apart from above, community content is HUGE, that makes games even better.

I'm gonna have to get this someday. Because I've lived in many of the locations listed and actually, my home town is there.
  • Lewiston to Sandpoint <==Lewiston is located at the bottom of 7% grade on the confluence of the Snake & Clearwater Rivers. (a lovely smelling Paper plant is there) Might be more difficult reversing the route and controlling a big rig down that grade...at least there are 3 or 4 runaway truck escapes.
  • Burlington to Lamar
  • Salina to Cedar City
  • Omak to Yakima <==I grew up in Omak. (North Central Washington State, about an hour from Canada) 1 stoplight, 5000 residents, lots of Sagebrush. Town Motto: Omak is NOT the end of the world, but you can see it from there.

I have about 400 hours in both games combined and I still play from time to time with friends in convoy or solo and listening to music or audiobooks. It is a calming experience.

Which is funny because I did this job for real for 20 years and I hated it at the end. It is anything BUT calming.

I have over 1000 hours in ETS2 and Almost 700 in ATS. Love 'em both (patiently awaiting UK re-map). What I find really good is I'm learning about the US states as I play.

I do wish they'd add more to the management side of things, I have 1.7 Billion in ETS2 and sod all to spend it on, Once I buy a garage and upgrade it there's no more costs involved, Ai trucks don't seem to need maintenance either. I'd like running costs added for everything.

I personally have about 140hrs into ATS on steam. Its such a relaxing game and alot of fun since I built a 18 speed shifter. Stream some tunes on the integrated radio and drive for hours. You apply some Reshade filters and it can look really nice.

I like both ATS and ETS2 and it is quite relaxing to drive with some radio station turned on from A to B. But after some time I miss good ffb and convincing physics. That's where those sims lack. Unless I'm missing something here regarding setting everything up correctly.

Being a former truck driver, I can relate to these sims. I have both, drove ETS2 extensively before ATS came out. Still drove them both but ATS was my main go to. Race sims have taken most time away from trucking but I still go to ATS when a new state comes out to explore.

How does one go about building an 18 gear shifter? Are there sites for ATS/ETS mods & additions?

When I was really young I lived in Wenatchee, and Yakima. Since that time I have lived in Seattle. The Washington DLC in ATS is really well done. Everything is scaled way down of course, but the major sights are there. Oregon, and Idaho are also very well done. One of my favorite drives in ATS is down highway 101. You can drive it from Port Angeles all the way to Los Angeles. The Oregon coast part of it is one of the most scenic in the game. Astoria is really well done with the bridge to Washington and all the other sights one would see. I've had a lot of fun with it, even though I play it only occasionally.

You can actually buy a hardware mod. It's basically a shifter knob with additional buttons to choose between low and high gears.
I use my TH8 and configure the paddles on my wheel which does the same.

jusssssst a little bit of trivia. Yakima (YAK-i-maw) the I sounds like the I in If. Yak like the Musk-ox, Ma as in yer mother. Indian word, probably horribly mispronounced by us modern folk, but the Super Bowl MVP was born in Yakima. (a spoiler that isn't a spoiler!) So you can take your truck to his hometown in the lower central portion of Washington State.
