IGN Shows Assetto Corsa Competizione PS5 Gameplay Trailer

The console version of Assetto Corsa Competizione has been out since 2020, but fans of the sim still have to show patience for a next-gen version. Ahead of the release in late February for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, IGN now showed a trailer containing gameplay from Sony's console.

While the original console version suffers from the previous gen's technological limitations and has seen a mixed reception as a result, the next-gen version looks like it will fix one of the most heavily criticized shortcomings of the Xbox One and PS4 versions: The frame rate was locked at 30 fps despite the siginificantly reduced graphical quality, a number which many sim racers deem too low to be playable at a comfortable level.

The gameplay trailer, released on IGN's Spanish homepage, shows footage of an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo in a race at Zolder and of a Bentley Continental GT3 at Spa, the latter at night and in the rain. Both scenarios run smoothly and look superb, as you would expect from consoles with a native 4k resolution.

Interestingly, the trailer shows February 22nd as the release date for the new console version - previously, February 24th was the date to mark in calendars.

Are you looking forward to the next-gen console version of ACC? Let us know in the comments!

Be interesting to see if they get it working with the PSVR2 when that comes out. Given the PC version, probably not.

Biggest mistake and which practically ruin whole game/sim(on console side) is that they dropped ability to adjust cockpit view/camera from console versions. You cannot make/publish driving sim without adjustable cockpit view, ever. Especially when many of ACC's cars dashboard view is not very usable(too forward, low or up).

how many console players would play this as proper sim on rig where this matters? compared to exterior camera + gamepad?

I do agree that it should be there, but I dont' think it's something that many people will miss

Glad it’s a free upgrade for owners of the PS4 version as I felt short changed after buying it before, does look good

Apparently there was going to be 24 car grid limit but now on AC Facebook page they say there are going to be 30 player lobbies. Wonder if this applies to AI cars as well.

That new gameplay also seems to look a bit better than the one showcased last year. My guess is that Kunos is still trying to find the right balance between quality and performance.

My PC is a bit on the limit in terms of performance in ACC so I'm thinking about picking it up for my Series X before the update for better graphics and especially more consistent framerate.

Until I get the Xbox compatible wheel I'm going to use a gamepad though but ACC is actually one of the better sims to play on the controller so it's fine + I can always go back to my PC and G29.

Fov and seat adjustment is there, it's just not on PS4 due to performance issues I presume or just the porters not understanding the importance, but its there on PS5.
