Fanatec Reveals Black Friday Deals and Gran Turismo DD Pro (Updated)

Sim hardware manufacturer Fanatec has revealed multiple Black Friday deals for 2021, and revealed their newest product: the Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro for the Playstation 5.

Black Friday 2021 is coming up very soon, and as always, companies will be vying for your money with enticing deals. Fanatec has announced deals on select products which go live on November 26th, and include the most recent edition of their budget P1 wheel, a 33% discount on an existing wheel, and add-ons for their CSL pedals.

The feature deal is the second version of the P1 wheel. The P1 looks similar in form to the popular WRC wheel that Fanatec offers at the lower budget end of their product line, but without the WRC branding. At €99,95 / $99.95 (a savings of €/$20), this looks to be a perfect entry wheel for those getting started in the Fanatec ecosystem.

Two more offerings at the lower end of the price range in Fanatec's lineup are the CSL pedal upgrades currently on sale for Black Friday. The new load cell kit for the CSL pedals is on sale for €119,95 / $119.95, and takes the €79,95 / $79.95 CSL Pedals from a two-pedal set to three pedals including a load cell equipped brake pedal. You can also upgrade the pedal faces with the Fanatec CSL Pedals Tuning Kit, which will be on sale on the 26th for €34,95 / $34.95.

My guess is they've built the Podium pedals. Aside from build quality and load cell strength improvements, they've probably have an improved tactile system on the pedals compared to the CSP v3 pedals...thus the "feelyourline" bit.

edit: the Gran Turismo idea is also a great guess.

Kudos to anyone daring to announce Black Friday on physical equipment in the midst of a global chain delivery crisis, just thinking of my SoMe-reading on YT, Reddit, here etc. of the delivery issues of just the common CSL DD. Think Fanatec has to add delivery date "Sometime in another future in another dimension" .

They've hinted there's a PS 4/5 compatible CSL DD coming, so I'm assuming that's the additional product that's going to be announced next week.

Will be interesting to see the new product. My guess/hope is a Podium GT3 style wheel or a larger diameter formula wheel.

It really looks like a Playstation box!
So much teasing for the gt7 csl DD + rim + pedals bundle... I'm convinced that's it.

This is great. I love my Fanatec gear, but I wish they'd finally ship me the replacement parts I ordered in JULY. Grr.

Hijacking the thread to say that my ClubSport RS wheel finally arrived today and to post a picture. No time to test it now but it looks nice. Build quality seems ok, this is a mid-range wheel (299 Euros + shipping). To me it is a good compromise and as a big AC road cars fan I just needed a decent round wheel to drive around LA Canyons in my virtual Ferraris and Porsches.
Had I known before that the CSL P1 V2 would be available at only 99 Euros.. well no regrets though.

Still not overly impressed with companies outside of America that jump on the black Friday bandwagon. It doesn't look like a tradition worth importing and from I've seen the "sales" are garbage. I always wait for the January sales when shops are stuck with a load of stock they'll have no hope of selling after Christmas.

Don't regret anything! I've had the Porsche 918 rim for a year and before that I had the Alcantara P1 rim for 1.5 years.
The clubsport rim is a completely different league! Thicker, nicer to touch, ergonomics are better, buttons a lot better, shifters etc too.
The P1 rims feel a bit like toys. Good quality toys though and definitely totally usable!

But the clubsport rims are a big step above!

"sadly" you can't really put your business plans on ice while the supply chain has issues. So announcing products etc is going forward (already slower and a bit delayed) but the shipping dates are a mess.

To be German feels a bit like cheating though with Fanatec. You get almost everything before the estimated shipping date when buying.
So it's not necessarily completely on Fanatec but in the whole delivery chain afterwards.

About black Friday: I agree... It leads to waiting for stuff to buy and then to server breakdowns etc.
Just annoying.... And super stressful if you actually wait for a product. Because if you know you could get what you're planning to buy for a lot less, you might regret it when you don't wait for the sales...

However I like what fanatec is doing. In a blog post they clearly say that they will never put a "-20% on everything" or stuff like that.
They keep their prices consistent throughout the year but during black Friday, often new products are announced/launched and some few items are a hit reduced. Often stuff that isn't sold that often.

So black Friday at fanatec is more like a little "event" with some little goodies. You won't regret buying something before black Friday but you might get a little "yay" out of it if your wishlist product happens to launch or get a bit reduced.

If anything, I'd say waiting for fanatec's black Friday is more a thing of waiting for new products, not for the reduced prices!

You have the better wheel. If the RS was available when I ordered the McLaren and the WRC wheels, I would have gotten it instead of the other two wheel rims.

I'd love to get this wheel! please try to do some youtube video review or something, though $300 is a little steep for me but after discovering that $200 is the retail price for any real wheel, this is a Fanatec and has buttons and paddles already

About the CSL Loadcell, I could have sworn there was a spring to simulate the initial pedal travel. It bugged me so much that I had to look for images or even video footage of the loadcell. The only thing I found was the pre-production renders that Fanatec teased, when the CSL Pedals were introduced.


(The Loadcell render is shown beginning at 38 seconds.)

Hopefully the spring is an option for pedal travel before the brakes bite. Maybe Fanatec uses a coiled spring in the Load cell pedal's base, while having some intentional slack in the elastomers and spacers? Interested to see if Fanatec will have something like the PU foam spacer on the CSLE Loadcell?

Hi Leonardo, I just had the time to try it out last night with the CSL DD in Assetto Corsa. I drove some road cars on LA Canyons and Pacific Coast.
Positives so far: the wheel looks good and adds to the immersion when driving supercars. Firmware was already up to date so setup was super quick. The paddle shifters are quiet. Overall quality is decent, it doesn't feel like a "premium" product but not even like a cheap one, it's there in the middle.
Negatives so far: the wheel is definitely heavier than the McLaren GT3 v2. I think this dampens the FFB and the reactivity on a small base like the CSL DD.
Some other issues are related to my experience with the T500RS, which I have been using for 7 years now. At 320 mm of diameter, the ClubSport RS wheel is much larger than my old T500RS wheel. I feel like I am driving a bus now :D. I have to say I struggled. I think it depends on muscle memory, but in general the wheel reaction time feels slower than usual, it all feels a bit sluggish. Another thing: the paddle shifters are a bit small for my taste, I'll need to get used to them as the T500RS had big fixed paddle shifters.
I did not have these issues using the McLaren GT3 v2 wheel, which although being "wide" itself makes me feel I am in total control of the car. I think the combination of weight and diameter of the ClubSport RS is something I'll need to get used to. I'll try changing some settings.
