KartKraft Update Brings Significant Improvements to KartKross

Motorsport Games has released an update for KartKraft that focuses primarily on improving the driving experience of the recently added KartKross vehicle.

The long journey of kart racing sim KartKraft is perhaps now picking up momentum since developer Motorsport Games took charge. A new kart class has been added in the most recent build, joining the Genk circuit added just over a month ago. Also, Motorsport Games has referenced a multiplayer update that they aim to release before the end of the year.

The KartKross vehicles are different from what you've come to expect in KartKraft. It features no body panels, and all of the major components of the drivetrain, suspension, steering and braking are clearly visible. A wing at the rear gives the only significant contribution to downforce. The power output is roughly 120hp, which propels the 300kg vehicle to 60mph in under 3 seconds.

Those of us who tried the KartKross vehicle in the previous build will be happy to see that the prominent graphical glitches have been rectified, and the AI is now much more competent at driving these karts.

The changelog for this build is listed below, and the update is live now on Steam. If you've tried KartKraft recently, let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Changelog
  • Added dashboard, pedals and dynamic parts to KartKross vehicle
  • Improved handling of KartKross vehicles
  • Replay cameras added for Brentemonte
  • AI are now learning to drive KartKross class vehicles
  • Fixed collision stability issues with KartKross vehicle
  • Fixed graphical glitches in KartKross vehicle
  • Fixed incorrect engine sound on KZ2 vehicles
  • Audio mixing improvements
  • Minor performance improvements

VR performance is dire for me. All my other sims run fine.

I've got ACC (same unreal4 engine?) running pretty much ok with some half decent graphical options turned on but this thing run like garbage even in practice mode with all options on low. I swear it's actually worse now than when I first bought it.

Sorry to read you are having issues, but it might be something on your end as for me it runs as good as ever. I would rate it as a solid VR experience.

It definitely runs worse than ACC in VR for me as well, but it's not unplayable.

The KrossKart footage I've seen is really odd, seems to have none of the 'mentalness' of these things as you can see here..
That feels sooo Reiza. Nutty and exotic. Havent gotten around to getting AMS 2 yet, but you would love doing physics for them right? And maybe get the team to release it with a DLC perhaps? Maybe? We'll see?

Unless I'm missing something, I'm pretty sure Niels isn't developing models for AMS2. Have I missed something?

Oh you're maybe right now that i think about it. He didn't follow over to AMS2.

Ok, Niels, make us that mod!

Loving this kart cross stuff! More please!!!

regular karts are fun.. for like 12 minutes.. then ZZzzzzzzzzzz....

these kart cross things however are just completely mental!! I reinstalled the game just to see how they go.. I'm keeping it installed now and watching the kart cross updates closely.

I like karts in general, and Kartkraft seems to be a good purchase, but seems they don't have a multiplayer option yet. (are they planning to make it?)
Also, DR 2.0 have a KartCross to buy in-game. I liked the experience playing on it.

Regards.

From the main article above "Motorsport Games has referenced a multiplayer update that they aim to release before the end of the year."
I've been waiting for multiplayer too. It's a pretty critical feature for me. I read somewhere that they've been testing multiplayer in beta and trying to get the bugs fixed.
With the following three big features it's well worth the $$
1. Great kart physics/handling and a good amount of content.
2. VR
3. Multiplayer
All it needs is multiplayer. I hope the game does well and continues to develop. Karts are fun.

Do you prefer licensed hardware?

  • Yes for me it is vital

  • Yes, but only if it's a manufacturer I like

  • Yes, but only if the price is right

  • No, a generic wheel is fine

  • No, I would be ok with a replica
