With Assetto Corsa EVO on the horizon, the flood of news does not ease off. According to a report, the sim is set to be the official GT World Challenge game, just like Assetto Corsa Competizione.

The week that saw the "one month to go" hurdle for Assetto Corsa EVO's Early Access release cleared also saw a fresh bunch of news and details emerge. Our own live stream with Kunos Simulazioni's Marco Massarutto was jam-packed with new info based on community questions, but there was even more, it turns out.

Gamestar: AC EVO To Feature GTWC Cars & Tracks

According to a video talk by Germany's biggest online gaming outlet Gamestar, the crowd that is hoping to enjoy AC EVO simply for the racing instead of the open world - certainly the center of the recent news - can breathe a sigh of relief: Gamestar Editor Sören Diederich, who also had the opportunity to talk to Kunos, states that Assetto Corsa EVO will be the official game of the GT World Challenge. In that regard, it looks set to follow the footsteps of ACC, then.

Diederich also claims that the cars will be included accordingly, which, in turn, means the car list that mostly features road-going cars at the minute, will be expanded by a good amount of racing machines - mostly of the GT3 kind, in this case. However, Massarutto had also stated in our live stream that there will be "every type of car" in AC EVO, something that Game Designer Davide Brivio also mentioned in our live stream from SimRacing Expo - so we can look forward not just to more of the ever-present GT3s, but also formula cars, prototypes, vintage GTs, touring cars, and more.

To add to this, "the tracks that belong to the series will also be there", Diederich claims. The 2024 GT World Challenge Europe calendar included two new tracks that are not in ACC, namely Magny-Cours and Jeddah. Meanwhile, GT World Challenge America had even more on the 2024 calendar that were not in ACC, those tracks being Sonoma, Sebring, VIR, and Barber Motorsports Park.

Co-op Endurance Races

Another element that Diederich mentions are endurance races, which are also going to be possible, according to the Editor. Furthermore, when doing endurance races against the AI, players will be able to hand off their car to an AI driver - or even a friend via an online co-op mode.

Whether or not this will be similar to the Co-op mode found in Le Mans Ultimate where one driver can complete their stint, and the other can pick up the race later when it fits their schedule, or if it is going to be a "live" session remains to be seen, however.

Finally, Diederich also asked about controller support, but was not given a definitive answer - only that Kunos apparently did not want to make any compromises regarding the driving physics simulation while still looking into controller playability.

All of this adds to a massive amount of news that have emerged regarding Assetto Corsa EVO in recent days. Check out our live stream with Marco Massarutto below, or read up on five important new details from that if you do not want to re-watch the entire stream.

This was always something I was concerned about. Because surely SRO won't accept it not having all of ACC's content immediately, but surely Kunos will want to hold off some of it to be DLC, right?

I hope this is true, it sounds great! At the end of ACCs development cycle the AI has become quite... problematic, with aggression and suspension related stuff. If a full GT3 package will be included in ACE and if the reworked AI is indeed going to be much better, I will be happy with that.

It's part of ACC (The 2024 season) minus the two tracks mentioned. Not a chance I'm paying for it as DLC in AC Evo

If the game will have it's value and will be much better and optimze for harware as ac and acc, then i'm wiling to pay for dlcs. Sure not 40+ euro for one dlc but 10 to 20 euro for one then it's acceptable.

I feel like this is only logical. AC Evo was always going to have GT3 cars, would not make any financial sense to not include the most popular sim racing class. ACC was going to be left to wither, so the SRO wanting to continue their partnership with Kunos makes sense. Otherwise they would have no simracing presence, and iRacing would be the only other option at a similar scale.

@Yannik Haustein regarding gamepad support, I think that the answer has been misunderstood. There's no reason Kunos wouldn't implement the same level of controller support that was in AC and ACC (where it was even more complete). They already have a very robust system to integrate gamepad players. I think what the answer was referring to was instead implementing systems to simplify the driving experience for gamepad players, something which Kunos isn't a fan of. However, if you could ask them for a specific reply on the matter I, long time pad player, would be very grateful :D :)
