With Automobilista 2 v1.6. seemingly around the corner, sim racers can look forward to new cars as well. Here's everything developer Reiza Studios has confirmed.

The big update to v1.6 for Automobilista 2 may not be here yet, but Reiza Studio's recent activity suggests that the wait is almost over. First, the studio showed a multiplayer session hosted on Low Fuel Motorsports, including 32 cars on the grid, to show some of the online and general improvements to the sim - and then, the Brazilian studio confirmed new content to look forward to.

For now, this exclusively means cars, although there will be new tracks as well. Alongside update 1.6, four new cars will be released for free as well as upgrades to two pre-existing ones, and nine more will join the grid as part of two paid DLC packs. Most notably, Lamborghini is going to make its debut in AMS2 with four cars being added - for now. At least four more are set to be added later, according to Reiza Founder and Lead Developer Renato Simioni.

Undoubtedly, the stars of the 1.6 new car list, at least for most sim racers, will be the Lamborghini SC63 and Alpine A424 hypercars. The prototypes are joined by two LMP2 models, which come in two specs, too - both the Oreca and Ligier will come in their current IMSA versions producing 525hp, as well as their more powerful 600+ hp iterations used until the end of the 2020 season. The Ligier JS P320 LMP3 car will also join the grid.

The additions make for a sizeable IMSA grid already, with the Acura ARX-06 in GTP, the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo, Lexus RC F GT3, Ferrari 296 GT3 and Ford Mustang GT3 in GTD missing as of November 2024.

Outside of the IMSA cosmos, more interesting additions await, such as the previously-announced Audi Quattro V8 that finally adds a third car to the Group A class for free. Similarly, the GT4 class will be expanded without expense for players by the Audi R8 LMS GT4, and the GT Classics class will feature a roof-less variant of the Corvette C3.R once AMS2 v1.6 drops.

Meanwhile, new tracks are also set to join the fray, although only two have been confirmed so far. Both Sebring and Road Atlanta, staples on the IMSA calendar, are on their way. More info in this regard is expected soon, as well as regarding other elements of v1.6.

The most recent bigger dev update was shared in September, in which Reiza highlighted improvements to the AI, rain lines, graphics and general physics. This followed a long radio silence since May in 2024 - now, sim racers hope that work on AMS2 v1.6 is on the home stretch.

Meanwhile, the NAMeS: Real Drivers for AMS2 mod by @John B. Ellis is already good to go for whenever v1.6 is deployed. The mod adds real driver names and behavior to all cars in the sim, using drivers that actually drive or have driven the respective cars, to make for more realistic grids.

uh, so the 1.6 finally will be out? looking forward for it. Is a big update but Reiza clearly "overcooked" this one.

(if anyone found weird the Ligier P3 being named "P1" in the list, it's cause it's used on the top class of the Brazilian Endurance Championship, against the Ginettas, Metalmoro and Sigmas).

whats the point
talking about what is the point.
what is the point of your post? You prefer AC, good for you, and do not like AMS2 much, so any addition to it has no attraction to you. This thread is not about what game you prefer, this thread is about new content from Reiza to AMS2.
AMS2 is a very legitimate offering, Reiza deserve respect for its dedication to improving and keeping developing this title after all this years.
I am glad that AMS2 enthusiast are getting updates and new (to them) content, even if, like you , I mostly enjoy AC.
I will still be interested to try what 1.6 brings to the table, plus a new version of Sebring is also something I am curious about, with AMS2/SMS graphics ability, I hope it is spectacular.

I can see where this dlc is gonna go. Everyone was probably expecting Endurance pack 2 & possibly 3 to include the cars and tracks but now seems that it's going to come in 4 separate packs. The 2 car packs here then a sebring and road Atlanta pack. Just an expensive way of doing it for the consumer. Just makes it look like a massive cash cow.

Hopefully I'm wrong and they're included in some way. Not particularly interested in sebring as it's included in a lot of sims already but road Atlanta isn't and is a simple but great track.

To be honest and without beeing a fanboy of one of the common sims - I am mostly curious how exactly 1.6 physics changes will feel. For now i do not need the LMDh cars or GT3s from Reiza. So far the cars was too stable and too easy to drive for me. LMU fe. really did this much better.

Theyve been milking and teasing this 1.6 on and off forever now, and have promised the same physics improvement for years. And for the past couple updates when promising AI improvements, the AI has obviously regressed. Reiza is treating its rabid costumers like bdsm slaves and they love it like stockholm syndrome cucks. Im becoming real tired of this company.

5 years to increase car cap they basically claimed couldnt be done until they were motivated (forced?) To do it after getting IMSA liscensd, 4 years to get multi class scoring, the first 2.5 to 3 years, the AI couldnt pit intelligently making long races pointless. I remember it all.

I just want the AI to finally be competent. At the moment they are just moving easy to exploit chicanes on the track. I was told by numerous people that in the 1.6 version while not a miracle they actually DO defend and move on the straights. So here is hoping it will not be like this anymore.

Can't wait to watch Simracing604 abuse the ever loving piss out of the incompetent AI in the rain and call it his best drive ever and claim there is absolutely nothing wrong with any sim ever.
Don´t know if thats a Simracing604 exclusive "problem". I have the feeling all the known youtubers in the scene are forbidden to criticize soft- or hardware they are preferential getting to test ;)

At least s604 is a pleasant guy. I like to listen to his opinion or the opinions of a few others and form my own opinion without giving too much weight to their opinions.

With a team of very few people working their ass off. Keep in mind Reiza is not a big developer like other studios. Building on PCARS2 and developing what PCARS3 should have been. Very respectable work.

whats the point of addons for a game that has 2005 level driving physics? its no where near realism level of AC, iracing and rfactor 2. make it drive proper before adding cars. AC already has over 10,000 free mods that drive better than AMS2

Your comment can definitely take the crown for the funniest one here. AC has 10.000 free mods out of which 99.99% are ripped and with tires allowing them to climb walls. Rfactor 2 is so realistic that the developers themselves thought to make a spinoff in order to attract more cash, instead of adding all the Le Mans content to the base game and improving it. The fact that you mention iRacing next to those is the cherry on top.

Sounds like a waste of time watching someone just talk if their opinions hold no real weight and you make your own anyway.
