The teams behind Assetto Corsa held a lengthy private press event to reveal their plans for the Assetto Corsa group of games. The Playstation 5 and Xbox Series S/X releases are a welcome sight for owners of the current generation of consoles. Sony has sold over 10 million PS5 units worldwide, with Microsoft’s Series S and X consoles exceeding 6 million units sold, but the racing game genre has been slow to adopt the improved capabilities of the latest consoles.

The mobile version of Assetto Corsa is the first thing fans will be able to get their hands on, with release scheduled for Tuesday. Whether racing sims are viable on handheld devices will be debated for years to come, but the idea of having any version of Assetto Corsa in our pockets is something that’s sure to appeal to many fans.

Although Kunos and 505 Games were vague about the future content for ACC, just knowing more is coming is good news. It’s easy to assume the coming cars outside of the BMW M4 GT3 could be GT2 cars. Competizione’s deal with SRO will continue to dictate the content, and with the majority of the current GT3 and GT4 cars already in place, GT2 is likely next. If this proves true, Competizione players can expect GT2 entries from Audi, Ferrari, KTM, Lamborghini and Porsche. Time will tell.

In addition to the cars, the tease of new tracks is equally intriguing. There were hints that future tracks would include American circuits. If this turns out to be the GT World Challenge America courses, that could mean the addition of Sonoma, Circuit of the Americas, Virginia International, Road America, Watkins Glen, Sebring and Indianapolis. It’s a big wish, but any of these tracks would be a great addition to ACC.

So, lots of exciting things coming from Kunos and 505 games in the future. They haven’t given us much in the way of detail to the forthcoming content for Assetto Corsa Competizione or Assetto Corsa 2, but the news of 9th generation consoles getting proper versions of ACC is a big deal in the console racing world, and most sim racers are probably going to give in to temptation and keep AC in our pockets via mobile.

Let us know your thoughts on the announcements, and which bits of news have you most excited for the future of the Assetto Corsa franchise.

Was there supposed to be a big announcement or is this it?
They left out the part about being the NEW and IMPROVED Forza/PC3:sick:
Buy the American Pack without knowing exactly what you are going to get
edit: I got confused between AMS and ACC
Resources applied to consoles that aren't able to achieve PC levels
And last but not least, play for mobile...perhaps they could include a car version of Mahjong?

Should have saved my money thinking ACC was going to be a step in the sim direction after AC.

"Buy the American Pack without knowing what exactly you're getting" ???
The Pack is not even out, so you can't buy it without knowing what's in it.

How is it not in the sim direction

Wow, where does that negativity come from?
May I ask what your expectations were?

In my eyes ACC is in its Fall season. There will be one or two DLCs and that's it I guess. I am still superhappy with the product to be honest. I will have many many upcoming online races to enjoy.
With new tracks coming up there will be lot of new content to explore, lots of exciting races to be had!

ACC will probably never go beyond SRO limits, which is what they made the game for. No historic content either. The focus is and will be GT3. Given that GT3 is now the most popular motorsport class, this development is not surprising.
I believe they will focus on DLC that they/SRO perceive as seen to become successful on the market based on the relevant SRO series poularity. Personally, I am happy with that.

I don't think ACC was ever developed to be hosting a multitude of classes, cars, series (i.e. not a rival to iRacing for example).

Obviously somebody is developing a WEC game, maybe IMSA will get a game, bring it on! (not from Kunos I suspect)

Yes they have a expansion pack that has three releases, release 1 is out, 2 and 3 yet yet to be determined.

Sim is a loose term as they are all essential games, but my opinion is if you are concentrating on console play where more than a few will be playing with a joystick or mobile apps your commitment to be taken seriously is greatly compromised.

The opinions expressed above are solely his and does not reflect those of ACC fanboys everywhere. ;)

Exciting news!

Although ray tracing is not coming to PC, we'll get DLSS (currently only for for the RTX cards) early 2022 I understood, which should vastly help frame rates and smoothness. Excellent! ...or did I dream this up? :geek:

DLSS is the big news for me too :)

It can make a HUGE difference, I have an RTX 2070s which works more or less, but with DLSS it should be more than suitable....can't wait!

Sure, I was expecting ACC to develop an online rating system to develop a community of PC racers that could drive in an environment that would be filled with competent racers that respect racing etiquette. Now perhaps I live in the wrong hemisphere to get quality and quantity when it comes to choices but more often than not I am racing looking in my mirrors for the next 'racer' to punt me into the weeds.

I have an above average system and internet and it struggles at times to run the graphics without issues. Again this may be more of logistics, but again not impressed.

I hope the same for a WEC/IMSA type collaboration, we'll see.

Aren't you confusing sims? It's AMS2 who released the american expansion pack divided in three...

I race(d) with several groups on Simracing.GP. Really enjoyable racing that I had there with really good and fair racers. I am not the overly try-hard type, so I tend to keep away from live stewarded, 40+ grid sprint (multiclass) races, where accidents are bound to happen. Lately I am doing more leisure ACC racing with lots of banter over Discord. I take those races seriously nonetheless.

With regards to performance you may have more luck with upcoming sims not using the Unreal engine. But then again, DLSS could help depending on your setup.

is DLSS confirmed? I can't find any reference to it.
Again, if I haven't dreamed that, Marco said it during the interview when asked about ray tracing. Maybe somebody could back me up here?

[EDIT: checked it myself]
