5 Racing Games Still Coming in 2022

2022 is not over yet! With just over 2 months to go in this year, a few racing game releases are still on the near horizon. Let's dive into what the end of 2022 has got going for racing game fans!

5. WRC Generations

The last ever KT Racing title in the WRC franchise is bound to be a big one. With
  • 750 km of unique special stages in 22 countries
  • 49 teams from the 2022 season (Rally1 / Rally2 / Junior WRC)
  • 37 legendary cars plus additional bonuses
  • 165 timed special stages
Every rally fan is bound to find their destination in this extensive game.

Furthermore, a bunch of new features in the franchise will be included too:
  • The new hybrid vehicles
  • New, even more, realistic vehicle physics
  • A LEAGUES mode in which you can challenge other players
  • A new Rally Sweden environment with 6 brand-new special stages
  • Share livery and stickers with the community
  • In-game team creation and management
Personally, I'm looking forward to the "leagues" feature and how that will be executed compared to Dirt Rally 2.0's online capabilities.

WRC Generations is set to release on November 3, 2022.

4. Rev to Vertex

Rev to Vertex (R2V) is a "new racing sim" by Hong Kong-based development studio and car tuning online shop (??) PLUTONIZATION.

The premise of this game is quite unique where, "unlike any rally or racing circuit game, you don’t win by crossing a finish line. Instead, you engage in touge battle rivalling street racers on the fly. Speed through hill climbs and street tags."

The game will feature fully customizable vehicles and, at release, a Hong Kong-based map that is set to expand after release. It is currently unknown, whether wheels or VR will be supported. But here are the ludicrous system requirements.

Yep, a 3080 is recommended. Along with 32 GB of RAM. Okay.

Rev to Vertex is set to release on December 16, 2022.

3. Disney Speedstorm

A new kart racer is on the horizon, trying to battle the likes of Mario Kart. Featuring a varied cast of Disney and Pixar characters, every fan of the western animation studio will find someone they treasure much to represent them on the race track.

The game is announced as some sort of live-service software, with new playable characters and race tracks to be added on a regular basis.

We'll have to see whether this is the Mario Kart killer it aspires to be, one thing sure helps its case, it will be available on PC.

Disney Speedstorm is set to release on an unspecified date in 2022.

CarX_Street.jpg

2. CarX Street

From the makers of Carx Drift Racing Online comes a street racing title that reminds one of classic Need for Speed titles like the Underground games or Carbon.

While there is already a CarX Street mobile game, I hope (but probably to no avail) that this is more than a mere port.

Personally, I would be looking forward to once again diving into worlds akin to those of my favourite PS2-era racing game: NFS Carbon.

But we'll have to wait and see if CarX Technologies have something special planned with this title, or just port their mobile game to PC.

CarX Street is set to release on December 15, 2022.

NFSUnbound.jpg

1. Need for Speed Unbound

Here's to what is most likely the most divisive racing title of 2022. With cartoon-ey style and ... westernized anime art I guess (???), this game is attempting to tightrope between genius and madness.

While the premise of NFS Unbound sounds interesting, reminding one of the classic Most Wanted, the aforementioned graphics style is quite overpowering for some potential customers.

However, cartoon effects can be turned off, they said.

We will see how all of that will affect the fate of the newest title in one of the highest-grossing racing game franchises.

Need for Speed Unbound is set to release on December 2, 2022.

Which of these titles are you most looking forward to, if any? Let us know in the comments down below!

Rev to Vertex sounds interesting. A bit specialised but having been to Hong Kong that actually sounds quite cool. No doubt someone will just bring out a massive AC freeroam of the area and render it pointless.

none of these are interesting. Heck Disney Speedstorm is the most interesting one in this list.
I love F1 so much I wanted to play the Mario Kart inspired F1 game! I heard it was a dud though. I just want to play as Seb doing Mario Kart S#!T! hah

Somehow Disney trash is on the list. I guess it is a slow news day. Isn't RF2 going to have their Q4 content drop soon?

As mentioned before, it is disappointing that RD is going towards more clickbaiting style articles than actually reporting news about racing games. How about the Dakar 1.4 patch that was out over the weekend and the tease of Grid Legend long-delayed second DLC?

Still, looking forward to WRC Generations, CarX Street and Rev to Vertex. Just dont play CarX if you are a sim racer as it will give you cancer because its physics is so basic. Despite it is quite fun.

Whoa enough with the gatekeeping. I know countless people (myself included) who never would have gotten started with simracing thanks to all other racing games that would not be labeled "simracing"
This isn't even gatekeeping. If F-Zero GX 2 was ever announced I'd be hyped. Instead some Mickey Mouse shovelware is on the list along with some Chinese game I never heard of which requires a fusion reactor to run.

I'll blame my news-procuring-means for not notifying me of this news.

Seriously, I haven't heard of Dakar 1.4 until your comment. Sounds like a good update.

So call out to anyone, if you've got a story you'd like to see covered, you can always shoot me a message. ;)

I surely will get WRC Gen. sooner or later.

WRC10 was my first ever Rally from this Developer and i was pretty much disappointed first, because i couldn´t get my wheel to a point where i could enyoj the physics. So i deleted the game early.

Later i came back, switched to a PS5 Dual Sense contoller and chase cam. (arcade style )
and i am enjoying the career very much.

5 comments of people saying "I don't like these games" (frankly, they're right), and you already throw the "gatekeeping" thing in? What gatekeeping? I don't see any
