This final version of the mod (2.0) is a workaround to minimize the palm trees' "dark" leftovers appearing in the first version (1.0).
It uses the original palm-trees trunk texture file (
palm_tree_01_a_tr_d.tga.dds) to make these leftovers blend into their surrounding ambient colors, as a serious attempt to render them mostly invisible while driving pass them after a few laps, as well as in front of them at the end of the first long straight.
Copy the
tracks folder inside the
Mod folder to
f12013. To restore the game's original
patchup_ot.pssg file, open the
Backup folder and copy the
tracks folder there to
f12013.
Also here again, I will describe the process to include these changes for all RD members who already use another modded version of the
patchup_ot.pssg file, and would like to keep it:
1- First, get a fresh copy of your actual modded
patchup_ot.pssg file.
2- Open it in Ryder PSSG Editor.
3- Click on the
Export All Files control on the Status Bar.
4- Go to the newly created
patchup_ot_pssg_textures folder.
5- Open the
palm_tree_01_a_fo_d.tga.dds file in Paint.NET.
6- Select the
Layer Properties item from the
Layers menu, or just press
F4.
7. Set the
Opacity property to
zero (or drag the slider from 255 to 0) and click OK.
8. Save the file as DXT5 (Interpolated Alpha), Compressor Type: Range Fit, Error metric: Uniform,
check Generate Mip Maps: Super Sampling.
9.
Preview, file size: should be
341,5 KB. Click OK.
10. Open the
palm_tree_01_a_tr_d.tga.dds file in Paint.NET (which contains the trunks texture).
11. Select
Invert Colors from the
Adjustments menu.
12. From the
Effects menu, select
Unfocus... from the
Blurs > sub-menu.
13. Drag the
Radius slider from 4 to
20, and click OK.
14. Save the file as DXT1 (Opaque/1-bit Alpha), Compressor Type: Range Fit, Error metric: Uniform,
check Generate Mip Maps: Super Sampling.
15.
Preview, file size: should be
85,5 KB. Click OK.
16. Go back to the PSSG Editor and click on the
Import All Files control on the Status Bar (and wait for the notification message if necessary).
17. Select
Save from the
File menu.
18. Copy your new
patchup_ot.pssg file to your
f12013\tracks\circuits\Abu_Dhabi folder.
All feedbacks and comments welcome!
