I know there are a few persons like me who wish to be able to drive magnificent and lovely cars of Assetto Corsa not only as much as possible on dry track, but also explore them further in wet slippery conditions a lot, master them. Maybe try to experience something similar to those exciting onboard videos from wet tracks.

All we can do is only wish and pray for the rain politely in a nice way, and maybe someday Gods will send it.

Maybe it would entertain Them if we would pretend that there was rain, and somehow track became all wet, reflective and slippery.

I know that it is not it, but if you'll try seriously, you'll see that it can be really good in this way too. How incredible it would be with detailed physics and visuals.

This is not actual wet physics, it is just lowered track grip and added reflections road mesh, it will not act as real wet track. The purpose is placebo, and "wet" pace, which is much slower than dry track, depending on temperature and water layer thickness a lot. Pretend that track is evenly wet, without rubber and oil on it, no puddles to cause drammatic hydroplanning moments (but it may seem like car is hydroplanning at some moments). Please try it, and you'll see that it is similar. I recommend using cars whose tires can take at least some slip angle.

Instalation

You don't have to remove or replace anything in original files. This works as additional layout, it is basically just reflections mesh and lowered friction.

Just add files to original ks_nordschleife folder to their given locations, just a few files, will take less than a minute.

I recommend using green surface setting, dusty might be a bit extreme, but it would get a lot more grippy with more laps, though Nordschleife is very big track, so dusty might be bad idea.

Be aware that for the first few corners tires are cold, and you'll have to be very very slow through them, unless you'll use tire warmers. Also it will be hard to maintain optimal pressures and temperatures, because there is little grip, and tires can't deform a lot and collect all that heat. I wonder if it is the issue with real life wet tires. Worth noticing that it is just low grip, the tires are obviously the same, thats one of the main reasons why it is placebo mod.

In content manager there is possibility to set temperature all the way to 0 degrees of Celsius, this can help if you want track to be super slippery, for example like it is in November.

Here is a little guide for extreme conditions, have fun:

Very enjoyable road feel. The reflection adds to the feel nicely, especially as the road appearance isn't very dark... I was trying the 'Good and Bad Weather' mod at IoM TT before this, using 'light-rain' setting there (temp 14.5C, dusty) produced very immersive racing.

It would be awesome if the GaBW mod worked with this, having spray come off the tyres seems as much a new layer of immersion as does the feel in this mod. Cheers.

thanks :) Glad to hear that it is immersive to race. As for GaBW mod, I haven't tried the latest mod yet, but if spray in my track doesn't appear then it is because I use lower friction value in surfaces.ini. IIRIC the effect appears when friction is higher than 0.9, mine is 0.7 IIRIC :)
amazing

Thanks :) Lets pray to Gods for real proper wet track physics :D

Thank you :) That spray looks alright, sadly it eats fps a lot, also I see that road reflections are pretty low, I guess it depends on graphical settings.
Very fun mod! feels good both with RWD and FWD. Totally cool with the skin "winter nords". Would be wonderful if the reflections had some alfa channel here and there like Aosta Sport to improve the visual impact, but the physics are very enjoyable.

Thanks, though I think it should be more suitable for Autumn. But under ~70-100km\h depending on car it is definitely gripping like ice, after that it is good wet track placebo. Depending on car again. What do you mean by alpha channel for reflections ? You mean reflections were inconsistent in AOSTA mod ? You can answer in support forum of this mod. Thank you for good rating :)

This is as close as wet driving / racing will probably get in AC 1. Thanks for the experiment. I tried the new Ford Mustang mod with and without TC, sure is fun. Spray would be nice if it looks somewhat believable. I noticed reflection is less on some patches ? On the start of the Nordschleife on the left after T1 where the graffiti is on the road. Different track grip ? I might be mistaken too.. Thanks !

Your welcome, it could be so much more believable even with simple wet road tire model to simulate ability of removing water. But even now it is something in quick pace with a lot of cars. Reflections aren't different IIRIC. Also unfortunately whole track shares same grip level, I'd really like it to change a little on different tarmac sections. It changes on my Nemuno Ziedas wet and dry mod also.
Nice. Have u consider modding the dirt smoke.ini to water splashing effect?

I have had some thought, but haven't even looked at it yet. Basically at first I just want to see if people even care for this type of driving experience. And then I don't want to break performance.
Awesome! I would like to have it on every track. It was great fun trying it on the Green Hell :)

Thank you, a lot of cars feels very unique, even with this. It is not so much off, if we would make enough assumptions :D Also a lot of real wet setup tweaks works, like more forgiving car setups, most definitely more downforce, more rear brake bias... Sometimes the way car loose grip then regains it then looses it again, and then finaly gets tamed... feels true enough to have good placebo.
I really Liked, thanks!
A fresh air in AC.
Would be nice have this in another track. :)

Perhaps just one more later. Shorter, easier to race at. I don't want to abuse official content. I'd love to see mod tracks with this, but unfortunately just a very little part of simracers are interested in this. Thanks for good rating :)
Downloaded yester but drive only few meters - and must think of SNOW and quit. But ! Now i will spend some laps *driveflowtoday* because your idea with "wet" mod i s definitly nice - by the way i like to drive on bad conditions - chears !

Thanks for 5 stars :) It feels bad with cold tires, and low speed, something lower than ~70km/h. Very depending on cars power, weight, downforce. Use optimum conditions and warm ambient if you want less sliding. Snow would have much less grip. Unless we would placebo mount (use higher grip) special narrow winter tires maybe. I just did 8'00 with C9, 8'40 with 917k, so I doubt rhar it is snow. I think wet track should be slower 10-20seconds for each minute on it.
Thx, mate, good job!
Excellent idea! I really like the look and the lowered grip levels. Please don't get demotivated by "only" 200 downloads within the last 24 hours! It's a creative and conductive approach. I've been testing the Guiletta, the Mazda Miata NA and the Porsche 911 GT3 R 2016 so far. AI also did a good job on the "wet" surface but further testing is required.
To me, driving feels quite believable. Especially the experience with the Guiletta (FWD) was very interesting because you can really feel the loss of grip at the front tyres and how the car understeers like crazy if you put your foot down - just like you would expect. Definitely 5 stars! Keep doing what you're doing! Please! :-)

Thank you for nice words, very motivating :) Maybe I'm a bit too quick to be disappointed, but it is a fact that mods are being downloaded most intensively when they are fresh, and later it gets less and less. This mod itself is a part of experiment to check if people would find it nice and needed, also to show that it can be done. It is all Kunos, there is so little touch from me, obviously Kunos would not do this because standard in the industry is much higher, but for mods it is ok, I think. And to make rain and wet into the game would be huge work for devs, and it is unclear if it is worth it (if there would be interest). I'm glad that I'm not the only one who loves it with this simple approach too. Thanks :)

Great work! I hope you will do this with some other tracks, too. It really adds some missing part to AC!

Maybe, I agree with you it really adds, even with such simplistic approach. Would be nice to have SPA. I wouldn't abuse this much, better wait for real wet physics maybe there is still some little bit of life in hope for it.

Unfortunately seems like this is not needed, only 200 downloads so far. As expected. Also it was never been done before, except AOSTA mod, which shows that perhaps community really doesn't need wet track. People perhaps would like to have it for depth and trying out once in a while, but majority really don't need it. They will just keep driving on "best" conditions, for 5laps usual races or hotlap modes to improve PB once more.
very good idea keep it up ;)

Nice Mod! It´s make much fun! Here a video of my first round with dusty track and Porsche 911 Cup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhTVMqFX5so&t

Thank you for preview, looks like it was fun. Very good lap, by the way, considering it is 1st lap out with this grip. Also I think Dusty setting is a bit overkill with friction value I have chosen, but looks like this Porsche was capable to take it, or perhaps the driver is alien :)
It's very well, thanks.
