WELLWOOD GP & CLUB Circuits
by Caribstu of Ripe Banana for GTR2

======================================

This is not a commercial project, and these tracks are free to use.

WELLWOOD is the Fifth of my 20 tracks to be released.

ABOUT THE TRACK

Wellwood Club Circuit is a fictional circuit inspired by the layout of Wombwell Kart Track, South Yorkshire, UK.
Wellwood GP Circuit is a fictional circuit inspired by corners of various UK circuits raced throughout the BTCC Championship.

The tracks are 'inspired' and not a 100% representations. Wombwell is an anti-clockwise track which features two long straights and a hairpin. It has been scaled up for cars, and set as a fictional club circuit joined with the fictional full length GP circuit.

OPTIONAL installation is the Animations folder.

If you install this it will overwrite one of the animated spectators and replace his street clothes with a Marshal's suit.
If you do not install then some trackside marshals will appear in normal clothes.

SETTINGS folder is included, as the track my demand this path, it WILL NOT overwrite any of your existing settings.

NO KNOWN ISSUES
DISCLAIMER: Install and use this track and it's components at your own risk. It's advisable to make a copy of your main GTR2 file before any MOD installation.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

GTR2 is the only game / sim i have. I did not consider myself a 'gamer' before I discovered GTR2 and as someone who used to race i fell in love with A. the SIM aspect and B. the ability to 'mod'

The track is built in Bobs Track Builder, then edited in 3DsimED. Thanks to Brendon and Dave for those user friendly software.

I use a combination of photoshop, illustrator, and paint.net to do textures and skins.

Sketch up and Blender for some 3D modelling.

I knew nothing about modding before embarking on this project and it's all been a matter of 'self taught' with a lot of help from members of the NOGRIPFORUM and RACEDEPARTMENT

I began building 20 new unique original tracks as part of a collection designed for my fictional JCW MINI COOPER Racing Series, and HOT HATCH Championships. The tracks are all fictional, though several are inspired by UK Kart Circuits, scaled up for cars, with some artistic license in terms of layout and elevations. Two are inspired by sections of real world circuits, all blended together, and one is based on the Millbrook Proving Ground.

The 20 tracks were v1.0 completed between 2021 and 2022.

During 2022 I spent a lot of time tweaking AIW files, adding in ANI flag marshals, and upgrading the textures to HQ.

I have created a lot of original textures for my track builds. An emphasis on 'localizing' trackside billboards, and environment textures.

Some objects are original builds by myself, others are downloaded from 3D model stock sites, many are from widely available Xpacks, and some have been imported from other track models. No offence to the original creator of those models.

When i started this project it was only intended for my own personal use, but as I've gone on and my track builds have got better, I've decided to release them to share.

Very nice, thanks
Hi Caribstu. I downloaded the track. For me, there was also CTD. Using the trace file, it gave the following result: vidman.cpp 1354: CUBE error loading TRK file USERDATA\LOG\tmp.TRK: Error loading global material NIGHT. I solved the problem by pasting the NIGHT.DDS file into the track folder. The track then loaded normally. Your work is excellent. I want to leave a message for anyone who finds something wrong with a CTD when opening a track: use the discussion area, before simply qualifying someone's work by putting a star. This qualification system through RD stars does not express nor is it fair to someone's work, when used deliberately. Caribstu, I believe that no one alone can be stronger than all of us together. Congratulations for your work. I leave the link for anyone who wants to download the file:

Glad you resolved it. When I first uploaded the track on Trackaholics a couple of weeks ago, there was someone who CTD and he ran a trace, which is when he discovered the NIGHT.DDS issue.

However, I'm at a loss to understand why because the NIGHT.DDS is packed into the map.gtr and should be in most users' shared skies gtr anyway. Strange. There are certain generic mats such as start light glows, horizons, skies which are packed into all my tracks. It's so strange on this one some users have had this Night.dds problem.

I asked Jeff and Walead to run traces just to be certain it was the same Night.dds issue causing their CTD, and not something else.

But Thank you Sergio for taking time to review the track and post the mediafire link for others. Now you've confirmed the same cause as the user on Trackaholics we can now say confidently this is the probably cause for anyone else getting CTD and your mediafile fix will rectify the problem.

So thank you Sergio.
I think it's funny...
First I want to say that I respect everyone's opinion, being, of course, consistent... So, I respect the opinion of the comrade who applied a star at work, but I don't think it was coherent and, therefore, I can't help but express myself.
I got to know Caribstu's work, as well as himself, recently, and we can't consider ourselves friends yet, but we have tried to help each other with some doubts and, in view of this approximation, I have been observing his work more closely, in particular the excellent Docklands circuit! I'm an RF rider and not GTR2, but I ended up downloading the Docklands track and converting it to RF, such was the admiration I had for the track! (I'm not going to post the conversion to RF, I just did it for myself, for my use).
Well, as I'm watching his work more closely, I've seen this one star applied, and I honestly don't see any reason for such an assessment, so I'm sorry, but there was a lack of coherence in that, as he didn't qualify the track... on the contrary, it disqualified a track that he didn't even see because there was some problem at the entrance causing CTD... I see in the history that several downloads were made, and only two complained about the problem which Caribstu was willing to support.
Anyway, in RD people end up manifesting themselves very little, but manifesting themselves wrongly the way this guy manifested himself is something that bothered me a lot! Of course, it bothered the author as well. I think some don't know the effort, the time, the dedication and so on of those who do something for the games, whether it's a simple texture, let alone an entire circuit. For this reason, I came to give my stars, not only as support to a comrade who has already done several circuits, but for the work presented in video that is maginific, showing a well set up and challenging track and also because I downloaded it and observed it in 3dsimed and it is very well worked, like all the works I have been observing by this author. And that's how we qualify a track, observing it in aesthetics and functioning, and if it shows the track working in the video it's because it works, right?! So, for me, it's a 10, all stars for Caribstu! And zero for the boy who had the misfortune to perform badly; He didn't respect the author and that was unfortunate, yes!
GAME CRASH :d

Have you run the trace as recommended to find out what's causing the CTD?

The track is fine, it works, so the issue is either something missing from your shared GTR. Skies Or animations?

The trace will tell you what the missing thing is. You can copy and paste me the text of the trace in a PM if you're unsure.
