Ladies and gentlemen, this is a historical car, Camber "Ugly Ducling" (Camber "Patinho Feio"), the car created by 4 teenage friends Leo, Mike, Donnie and Raph Alex Dias Ribeiro (Formula 1), Helládio Toledo, Zeca Vassalo and João Luis, who built it in the 1960s, in just 23 days a prototype to participate in an important race, in the then new capital of Brazil: Brasília. The original car was so ugly that it got the nickname of Ugly Duckling. The version of this mod is closer to the "peak", when it gained a more extreme preparation.
The car was created on a VW Beetle chassis with a 1300cc boxter engine. As time went by, he got a new chassis and a modified 1900cc boxer engine with Webber carburetors, the same ones used by Ferrari in F1 and in a certain period was prepared, had the wheelbase shortened and was driven by a young man on the rise called Nelson Piquet. The Camber team gave rise to a homonymous workshop, where they went, in addition to Alex and Pique, Roberto Pupo Moreno (2nd place in the 1990 Grand Prix of Japan).
This project was done as a tribute and had the collaboration of Alex Dias Ribeiro, providing information and feedback on the car's performance and behavior.
