I’m pleased to release the 90s version of my Thruxton track, replicated as it was (arguably) at the height of the BTCC touring car era. I had initially planned to do this as a layout / skin combo, however, so much has changed that it was simpler to do a complete reworking. It’s now been 10 years since I started the original Thruxton and having done a complete Lidar scan reworking of that in 2020, this new ‘historic’ version means I’ve had something of an epic journey with this track mod.
Details:
The 1990s was arguably the height of the BTCC era, drawing huge crowds to every event - I haven’t tried to replicate one particular year but have used reference material from throughout the 90s, so it should work for both early and late 90s events. I may shortly release a late 90s skin to add Mobil 1 logos to the bridge and a couple of other subtle cosmetic adjustments.
Features:
Features include 36 grid spots, fully working ai, detailed physical track mesh with layout and elevation from LiDAR scan data, additional CSP features. Works best with CSP (no 3d grass without it I’m afraid).
Known issues / things to note:
I’ve put a few thousand miles into testing this track so hopefully there are no major issues, but please report any in the discussion thread and I will be sure to fix. It should be noted that some ai classes can struggle to stay on the road when battling at Club chicane – although this is also true IRL! There is also a CSP v0.2.3 preview1 related issue where ai get stuck on the starting grid – I don’t have a fix for this yet but simply restarting the race session will set them off okay.
