In this pack are all 11 of the 12 Jaguar's that competed in the first 3 years of the Australian Touring Car Championship.
Also, cars from various meets around Australia at the time, including the infamous "Grey Pussy" of David McKay, and some Bob Jane cars that I could only find diecast models of.
It was fun going through old photos and blog posts of theses cars. I was unable to find enough clear photos of the Bill Burns car from 1961, or records of what number he raced. But in my search I leaned, in a blog post, that the Bill Pitt Jaguars were "British Racing Green" and not black, which I initially thought as only black and white photos are available.
It was also interesting to learn about the stripes on these cars and why they were there. In the early days advertising was banned in all forms of motorsport, but drivers would add these stripes in the colours of their sponsors. For McKay's first sponsor 'Ampol' it was Blue, White and Red, and for his time with 'Shell' it was Red with White stripes. Ron Hodgson sponsored by 'Castrol' had Green and Gold stripes.
A lot of these cars had different numbers for different race meets.
I did the best I could with the limited colour photos that exist from that time. I used photo references from Autopics, The Roaring Season, PRIMOTIPO, some Facebook groups and Google images.
