It's a wonderful mod, thanks. By the way, how can I make the side menu bigger so I can play at 4K resolution and see it correctly. Greetings and thank you.
The flexibility this mod provides is just absurd, weather, day/night, etc. However, I wonder why it makes my sun look like a pea with no glare with everything but the sol extra reinhard and default ppfilters
its because of the different tonemapping functions. Most of the ppfilters use function 2 "sensitometric" tonemapping. With it, colors burn out to white, if they are bright. So the sun will get white also and the glare effect can do its magic. Glare effect just reacts to white color.
But the extented Sol ppfilters like Extra and Reinhard using a different tonemapping, to prevent this color burnout. So they can reproduce colors with a higher precision. But then the very saturated sun gets no glare effect, because it stays very saturated also with high levels.
Atm the saturation of the sun's shape can not be manipulated individually. But with newer CSP versions, this will be possible and then the glare effect is back.
Been using sol-extra. Sol itself is great and the weather and time switcher is amazing. After using so many other filters and liking this 'extra' one heaps (and flitting with the hdr one) first I have returned to it and its full time use. Technically it is the best and its just also balanced for the eye. It actually looks the best is what I am saying. Without trying to detract from preference because I did use a lot of others so its not that they're not good - just this is too good.
So if you like that eye balancing with a PPfilter, the __Sol_HDR filter is at least the way to go. If you have an HDR monitor, you should waste no time staying in SDR.
For me HDR in AC/CSP was realy a revelation what is possible today, to show sceneries which looks absolute realistic, not in a photorealistic way, but in an eye-realistic way.
ATM I'm working on the __Sol_HDR filter version 1.3. It has a very own colorgrading LUT inside, which gives a special tonemapping, to prevent the burnout of colors and it gives redtones a very natural look. This will bring AC to the next level of eye-reality...
