Hello everyone! Back again with another helmet skin!
I've been getting more and more into IndyCar the last couple of years, so to celebrate the 106th running of the Indy 500 this weekend I've decided to recreate Scott McLaughlin's retro helmet design!
The yellow, red, and black scheme goes way back to 1980 when Rick Mears wore a helmet design made to match the iconic Pennzoil livery. Such a striking design from both the helmet and the car, along with being one of the most recognisable designs in IndyCar history!
This helmet skin is designed to be used with the ACSPRH Mod by Marco17_ok, which follows jvinu2000's helmet templates. (specifically the Bell helmet without the wing) Be sure to check out their work on their respective pages!
Huge shout out to kyle.bloyd here on RaceDepartment who's painstakingly recreated all of the 2022 IndyCar liveries for the RSS Formula Americas car! Be sure to download his skins and give them a run for yourself from the link below! (McLaughlin's Indy 500 livery is included! )
The design may not be 100% perfect as I haven't seen many close up images from this year's helmet, so I've mainly painted from his 2021 lid! Still getting the hang of helmet painting so a nice simple one from me once again xD
Here's a short preview of the helmet in CM Showroom:
Installation:
(You'll need the ACSPRH Mod installed for this to work)
To install, first download the zip folder containing the files; "Helmet_2019.dds" and "ext_config.ini". Once this has been completed, copy these files into your desired skin folder. This will look something like this:
?:\steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars\rss_formula_americas_2020_oval\skins\3 Scott McLaughlin - Indianapolis 500\(paste here)\
Replace any files that explorer tells you and voila! You should now be able to use Scott's helmet in Assetto Corsa!
Thanks for taking the time to view this mod!
