Grand Prix Karting version of Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya
In the current Formula One era, a F1 season starts traditional with testing on Circuit de Catalunya. F1 teams have a lot of data of F1 cars on this track from the past, and the track is a bit of an average of all tracks on the F1 calendar. It has fast corners, slow corners and a long straight. This is a brand new Grand Prix Karting of this track. The old version was as close as possible to a real world karting track. One of the reasons for this was because the layout of the real track looks a bit like an enlarged karting track, and the original idea was to have the tracks as close as possible to a real world karting track. But GPK tracks have evolved towards being more like the original track, so Barcelone has been renewed to be in line with the newer GPK tracks.

This new version comes with 5 layouts:

• Barcelona GP 1 (in use for F1 since 2021)
• Barcelona GP 2 (used for F1 2007 - 2020)
• Barcelona GP 3 (used for F1 2004 - 2006)
• Barcelona Short (used for DTM 2006 - 2009)
• Barcelona Oval (fiction oval track surrounding the real track)

Installation notes
If you have already installed the old GPK Barcelona, you can keep that one. After installing this one you will have the old version (Barcelona ) and the new versions (as mentioned above).

Grand Prix Karting
Grand Prix Karting tracks are F1 tracks with the layout of the original F1 track but the size, look and feel of real world karttracks. No big runoff areas, but modern wide kerbs, pit not on the infield but on the outside of the track, not many grand stands but a pitbuilding which is also a grandstand. These tracks are not a resized conversion of existing tracks but scratch build. Not laser scanned (because they are fiction) but handmade, which was a bit of a challenge with some tracks with a lot of elevation in the track and the terrain surrounding the track.

rFactor Grand Prix Karting tracks are dedicated for karts and Assetto Corsa Grand Prix Karting tracks are dedicated for Formula Student.
