Unanimously considered one of the best Portuguese drivers of the 60s and 70s, Carlos Santos was used to driving powerful cars when in 1972 he made his debut behind the wheel of a 2-liter “Barchetta”. Interestingly, he won on his debut day, as he surprisingly prevailed over the Chevron B21 that he shared with the Englishman Roger Heavens in the 6 Hours of Nova Lisboa, in Angola - August 1972. In 1975 and 76, Carlos Santos used the GRD in several national races with several victories in Estoril races and also in the 75th edition of the Vila do Conde Circuit. He would abandon competitions at the end of 1976, never again sitting in a racing car…
