The 6th generation Volkswagen Jetta was the first Jetta not derived from its bigger brother the Golf. Though not known for its sporting aptitude, Jetta shares the 4-wheel independent suspension: front struts and rear multi-link suspension with the Golf. Most important of all, I currently drive a 2015 Jetta TDI with 6-speed DSG transmission. It does not drive like my 2014 Ford Fiesta, 2005 Ford Focus, and definitely not like the Toyota MR2 Mk1 I had. But I found the handling surprisingly competent, with the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 and Koni Special Active shocks.

In the world of Assetto Corsa, look for “Panda Jetta 2015” and copy my files over to recreate my 2.0 TDI DSG. There is a 2-pack TSI face-lift of 2012 and 2017 that is encrypted. (very stiff with little feel) The Panda Jetta mod, in my opinion, is of low quality. Even basic dimensions such as wheelbase and front/rear track were incorrect. The 3D model of the car is too long and the wheelbase could not be reduced to factory specification.

Work List:
  • Correct front and rear track dimension (adjusted offset)
  • Set correct steering lock to 3.0. But used 13.0 steering ratio to speed up the steering.
  • Modeled rear multi-link suspension in DWB (yet to integrate Stereo’s Focus ST geometry)
  • Transmission: used 1.8T auto ratio and final drive.
  • Checked and tuned out front and rear bumpsteer.
  • Aero simplified, top speed about 200 km/h
  • Adjusted inertia (reduced)
  • Created power.lut for 150 HP/236 lb-ft torque.
  • Checked bumpstop travel
  • Tuned to 14/15 Hz ride frequency.
  • Alignment: stock spec.: 0.5/1.3 negative camber.
  • Test drove in Nordschleife and Laguna Seca
How to:
  1. Search for "Panda Jetta 2015" mod . Download and install in CM.
  2. Optional step: make a backup of the data folder in case you want to revert to the original setting. (Not critical since the mod file contain all the original files)
  3. Manually extract and copy the files into data folder. There is a Champaign skin files that goes into the skin folder. And the ambient_shadows.ini goes into the car folder.
  4. Enjoy the car. Tune the car to your liking.
The car drives much better, more reasonable than the original mod but still might need some fine tuning. For a long time, it oversteered under braking until the bump steers were sorted out. 14/15 ride frequency is close but might drop the rear rate. The ARB ratio at 10k/8.5K rotate a bit too much, 10k/6.5K a bit too little. I would like to keep the entry rotation rate without the rear end coming around too much.

Please let me know if you find a good setup. I think the geometry is reasonable decent.
