Attached is a higher definition version of the Nissan Fairlady ZG (ZR) campaigned by Maruzen Racing Oil at the 300 mile Grand Championship race at Fuji, June 1972. The livery has been built up for use with the gd_nissan_240zg model.
This car wears the iconic yellow Maruzen livery, which was worn from cars ranging from stock car racing Nissan Cedrics to the scrappy hornet Nissan Sunny. These cars were all emblazoned with 84, the racing number of Seiichi Suzuki, a championship winning stock car driver and founder of the legendary Tomei Engine Company.
Suzuki would dominate in many events across Japanese motorsports until a fatal crash on the infamous Fuji embankment took his life as well as young driver Hiroshi Kazato. This unfortunate tragedy would lead to the modernization of Fuji circuit, eliminating the 30-degree embankment permanently.
Historic details such as typefaces and decals have been researched and applied to match how the car appeared in 1972.
This model is a joy to drive in Assetto and fits in very well with the recent
AC Legends GT Classic Pack by Bazza. Please look forward to more high definition Fairlady ZG skins to come!
As always, a big thanks to the community JGT Database on Discord, whose focus is on gathering an extensive archive of images and records focused on Japanese Motorsports through the 20th Century.
