New Castle Motorsports Park 2022 v0.4

New Castle Motorsports Park is a modern, world-class karting facility located near New Castle, Indiana. The track features a 2km main layout with many alternative route options, as well as a paved oval. Wide, drivable curbs were added for the 2017 season to replace the original brick curbs. The track hosts top-tier US karting series events from the SKUSA Pro Tour, USPKS, and Rotax US Trophy. The track also used to hold a 200-mile kart endurance race from 2005 to 2013, and they plan to restart it this year (2024).



This model is being built with the assistance of photogrammetry technology. I used my DJI Mini 2 to take 855 photos of the track from the air from various altitudes and angles to capture a model of the whole site, which I then processed into various reference datasets for my use in modeling it in Blender for both Assetto Corsa and Kart Racing Pro. I took this scan in the winter of 2022, and so that is what this model represents, though the track has not changed in any significant way since then.



The model isn't complete yet, but it is drivable. It features one layout currently: the National layout (it also has some number code, but IDK what it is right now), which is the one most regularly used IRL. No barriers exist yet to block off the other layouts, but timing will only work reliably if the aforementioned layout is driven.
