This is a project I worked on in the span of an evening when playing through RIDE 4. I went into the photo mode and started messing with the sliders and realized how overblown the contrast and colors were. After going back to playing I couldn't help but want to try and get that look back.
I tried to aim for a neutral look. I wanted to tone down the contrast quite a bit as it crushed the colors quite a bit. As a finishing touch I decided to add on Ambient Light and it really helps with giving a more natural look. This is the first time I've tried to do anything serious in ReShade, so any pointers would help.
Installation
1. Download ReShade from https://reshade.me/. Open the .exe and click on the 'browse' button to direct reshade to '...\RIDE 4\ride4\Binaries\Win64\ride4-Win64-Shipping.exe'
2. Select the DirectX 10/11/12 API.
3. In the effect packages install screen, select 'qUINT by Marty McFly' and 'Legacy effects'.
4. Select 'qUINT_lightroom' from qUINT and 'AmbientLight' from Legacy effects.
5. Once ReShade is done installing, place 'RubysRide4Neutral.ini' in ...\RIDE 4\ride4\Binaries\Win64, where the 'ride4-Win64-Shipping.exe' file is.
6. Run RIDE 4, press the Home key and select the preset.
I recommend turning "Bloom" in the video options OFF.

It might not be to everyone's preference, but I hope the comparisons show how jarring the excessive contrast in this game really is.
It might work with other Milestone games given how much they love their contrast but I haven't tried it out. Give it a shot if you want!
