Short specifications:
- Complete Standalone GTC-65 class car.
- Complete from scratch modelled and textured car.
- Complete new, Authentic physics: is based on 1965 spec 970cc
Cooper S engine (107bhp / 115Nm) and 1964 5-speed gearbox
made by Colotti SpA. (Only allowed to be used in Grp 5.)
The Story.
In 1963, Dizzy Addicott got an idea of making Mini Cooper with
more streamlined GT body. The Car was constructed from Morris Mini
Van with damage on the roof by something hitting it while in
garage.
The project eventually got finished and steel made car
was shown on the Paul Emery stand at the 1964 Racing Car show
with "D.A.R.T." (Dizzy Addicott Racing Team) letters on the
hood. It gathered a lot of attention and there was plan to use
3rd party fibreglass manufacturer (Where Jem Marsh, co-founder
of Marcos Cars, was involved as same manufacturer did parts to
bigger Marcos cars) to make the bodies.
After 8 complete shells were done, there was disagreement
between Jem and Dizzy about the quality of the shells which
led them to go different ways. While Jem went to develop DART
as Mini Marcos, Dizzy eventually sold the DART project to
Jeremy Delmar-Morgan, who sold DART as Mini JEM.
Following the cancellation of Dizzy Addicott's DART project,
Jem Marsh set about making a replacement. The car was designed
by Brian Moulton with Malcolm Newell as pattern maker, along
the same lines as the Mini Jem but clearly not a copy. The Mini
Marcos was somewhat simpler in construction and rather untidy
at the front with a large flat radiator box angled downwards
under the nose.
The new baby made its debut at Castle Combe circuit in
September 1965. The track was wet which suited front wheel drive
and in the hands of local Mini exponent Geoff Mabbs, the Mini
Marcos thrashed the opposition, lapping all but one, a Ginetta,
to win by over a minute.
The car was officially launched at the Racing Car Show at Earl's
Court, London, in January 1966, a full year ahead of the Mini Jem.

This particular in game car is equipped with:
- 970cc Cooper S block with 1965 racing spec. (output around 107bhp)
- Very special, Colotti 5-speed gearbox available for sub-1000cc
Minis from August 1964 as replacement part.
- Minimal racing weight: 490kg + 80kg driver.
- wide selection period correct final gears.
- Tyres are Historic racing Dunlop G5s. (same as 1968 Cooper 970 S)
...all made as authentic as possible.
The Team Notes:
- Tokin:
This car was dubbed once "the most ugly car on the track"... And
though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it cannot be denied
that this car has a definately distinctive shape. As such it proved
quite some opportunities to sharpen my modeling skills.
- Nappe1:
As Mini Marcos was sold originally as kit form, you could basically
have hundreds of thousands of variations of Mk I car. The Team
decided to build sub one liter version as first one, to make it
elligble as many as possible online leagues. However, those who
feel this little car a bit too slow, two more versions are in the
pipeline, with a little and quite bit more punch under the hood,
the latter one being GTC-76 classified. However this car is so
marvelous and so fast, that don't let the small engine fool you.
It will eat some big GTC-65 cars alive on twisty tracks. :)
Finally the developers would like to thank the Gamers-Crib.com
and NoGripRacing.com websites for support and hosting the files!
Possible further enchancements:
- None planned, but sister models in development.
Version History:
- 1.0: 15 September 2011; First release version.
- 1.1: 24 September 2011; Update
24th of September 2011
Have fun,
Tokin
