With the arrival of the brand new MAD Formula Team MFT02 mod (our 2022 FS car, have a look at it), I thought it would be appropriate to have a short look back to the MFT C3 and bring some of the things I’ve learnt over the last couple of years when it comes to physics.
Despite the update making the car slower than before, it remains just as fun, and you will enjoy a more realistic vehicle, although I've made a few compromises to retain the car behaviour and feel of previous versions of this car. I have also fixed some of the more glaring issues the car had.
CHANGELOG:
- Recalculated car weight, CoG and unsprung masses.
- Revamped suspension, drivetrain, aerodynamics and damper data.
- New tyre model, made from scratch (similar to the one in the MFT01 and MFT02)
- Fixed setup alignment bugs.
- 3D model tweaks
- Changed UI information so MAD Formula Team cars will now be listed in chronological order
The 3 wise men have arrived today and left a small present for all of you!
This is very much an unplanned update. However, working on a new project, I noticed a couple of details that could be improved on. So I decided to bring this small update.
The changelog is as follows:
I want to note a small issue I noticed. The AI tend to underfuel the car, so the entire field pits at the end of races. On single races and without resets, this is not an issue. If you restart the race or you run on weekend mode, it is recommended to disable fuel burn.
- Modified Linear Steer Rod value
- AI tweaks
- Tweaked tyre temperature curves and small tyre tweaks
- Added “Jardier”, “GPK” skin, redesigned “Jimmy Broadbent” skin
I also decided to make a few extra skins. First of all I redesigned Jimmy Broadbent's skin, this time giving it a Goldie theme. To complete the look, I want to thank @Jumper2022 for allowing me to use his Jimmy helmet and suit textures.
For new skins, we have a skin to thank Jardier for his videos on this very mod. Check them out
And finally, I have also made a GPK skin. For those unaware, @Nitro McClean has recreated all 2021 F1 tracks into a karting size version of them. We have also worked hard in the Formula Student community, creating all kinds of races and championships for all of you. We are near the 1000 member mark, which is incredible to think and we have great plans for 2022
Finally, and speaking of skins, massive shoutout to @river amaryllis for creating this amazing skinpack for the car recreating all 2021 F1 skins. It is an amazing effort and you should definitely check it out because the results speak for themselves.
Take care and happy 2022!
(just like V1.6 but with the correct tyre files )
I know I said version 1.5 was going to be the final update, but this is the last one for sure. It's been a great project, and I honestly don't think I can improve it much more . Plus, I may be working on something else haha
The changelog is the following:
-Redesigned LODs, improved performance.
-Fixed tyre shadow bug
-Fixed AI fuel glitch
There are a couple of updates when it comes to skins. First of all, since RaceDepartment has been relaunched, the RD skin has been redesigned...
And as a thank you for the creation of some pretty epic videos with this mod in the last couple of weeks, a Simracing604 and a CoyoteRacing skin are also available:
Ok, now for real, final update (unless you find something else wrong)
V1.4 was going to be the last one, but thanks to @HighRoLa for pointing out an issue with the setup.ini file.
The changelog is the following:
-Corrected setup.ini typo.
-Tyre model and suspension files improved.
-Improved AI
-Since I'm making an update, I may as well do something visual to reflect it. Changed “Efeuno” skin, decided to make the red the primary colour rather than the blue so it stands out more. I personally like it more now
Due to the changes made, some of the setups you had before may require some ride height tweaks. You will also find the wheel rate more customizable (as originally intended).
The improved tyre model makes the car slightly easier to drive on the limit (that doesn't mean easy, the car is still a SOB to drive ). The overall dynamics of the car don't change.
Take care!
Hello everyone.
New and very likely final update of the MFTC3 mod.
I want to start off talking about FSGP, the project involving this mod, F1 skins for the car and the mini F1 circuits.
So far there are 4 tracks available for download, but the goal is to create miniature scale F1 tracks over the year.
Remember to check out the Formula Student simracing.gp community if you want to have fun racing with the MFTC3 in all sorts of tracks, events and championships
As for the car, the changelog is the following
-Improved car textures
-Updated MAD Formula Team sponsor list
-Optimized pitstop times
-Added names of people who have donated (thank you for your support!)
First things first, MAD Formula Team, in collaboration with RaceDepartment, has an special announcement to make the 13th of February at 18:00 UTC. Make sure you don't miss this incredible event in which we #ResizeSimracing RaceDepartment Twitch Link
As for upgrades of the cars:
-Improved tyre model
-Optimized gearing ratios of both cars
Let me start off thanking everyone who has so far donated to become a microsponsor of MAD Formula Team. All names have been updated to show everyone who has donated as of today.
If you also want to become a microsponsor of MAD Formula Team, thus directly helping us in the construction of the MAD Formula Team MFT01, you have all the info here: https://en.madformulateam.com/assetto-corsa
As for car updates, this is the change log:
-New LODB model, fixing a texture glitch when the car was far.
-Optimized textures to improve FPS performance
-Updated aero files, fixing a typo made in previous versions that caused the drag of the car to reduce dramatically when increasing the frontal ride height.
-Improved tyre model
-Modified position and FOV of various onboard cameras.
This should be the final update regarding physics. Other cosmetic tweaks however may arrive in the future
Happy holidays!!
First things first, I would like to introduce you to the fantastic Simracing.gp Formula Student community created. If you want clean, short and competitive online racing with the MFTC3 in a friendly and welcoming enviroment, this is the place to be. And we are preparing a bunch of championships and events for 2021.

Regarding the car, a new Team Quadrant livery has been added. Hopefully @Aarav Amin and company in Team Quadrant give it a go, I'm sure they'll love it
And now for the car. The 3 big changes are:
-New baseline setup
-Modified tyre temperature model, tyres are less likely to overheat and have a slightly wider operating window.
-Slightly improved AI (still not 100% optimized)
Various other tweaks and improvements
V1.0 is here! Which means a couple of things. First of all, thank you so much for all of the donations made to the team. If you have donated you can now select any of the 5 MAD Formula Team official skins, and you will find your name. You can still donate to get your sticker in the virtual car or the real 2021 MAD Formula Team MFT01
Speaking of stickers, MAD Formula Team is pleased to partner with Amazon Web Services for the 2021 season. As such, AWS logos are now visible on the car
Furthermore, if you want to create your own skins, template files are now available here: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/mad-formula-team-mftc3-skin-templates.37104/
Small changes have been done to the tyre model and other aspects to enhance the driving experience
Finally, an EVO version of the MFTC3 is now available. Due to certain engine regulations, engine performace is restricted at Formula Student events. This EVO version is the result of what happens when those restrictions are out of the equation. 121 bhp instead of 70, giving it more speed down the straights while mantaining all the cornering capabilities the normal version has.
Corrected the position of some sponsor logos, reflecting new sponsorship deals closed by the team.
2 added skins.
Following the video kindly made by Saxogaming, we have created a skin for him.
And becuase of the unbelieveable reception of the mod by the community, a RaceDepartment skin is now available. Thank you!
Yet another hotfix to try and solve the issues some Direct Drive users have experienced. Nevertheless, tweak the FF car settings if you still encounter issues or the Force Feedback is too strong for your liking.
I have also fixed an onboard glitch that affected some users when using 1st person view.
Finally, the dash cam position has been corrected.
If you still come across any problems please let me know in the discussion thread, and they will be patched for V1.0 (should be launched in late November or December). That update will include in the rear wing the names of those who have made a donation to MAD Formula Team. Thank you so much to those who have already donated!
Small fix including the UI description and (hopefully) fix a small bug that affected some Direct Drive users when ABS is forced.
During the testing phase we weren't able to test the car with a DD base. If you come across any issues please report them in the Discussion section
