Silent update release to fix a texture that would load incorrectly. Recommended to redownload again to avoid possible file conflicts, particularly in online mode
And as a FYI, hybrid power is deployed when the driver pushes the KERS button, so make sure you map that on your wheels!
Hello everyone!
Surprise update for everyone!
MAD Formula Team is the official car supplier of Virtual FSAA, an online competition reserved for real world Formula Student teams. For the 2nd edition of the event, which will be held on the 11th and 12th of December, a hybrid version of the MFT02 race car has been developed, and the good news is that everyone will be able to enjoy it on version 1.4 of the car!
This car is based on the standard MFT02, and a KERS style hybrid system inspired in FS rules has been added to increase strategy and overtaking opportunities in wheel-to-wheel racing. Special thanks to Christian Ablasser for collaborating on the development of the system.
The specs of the hybrid system are as follows:
Other small updates have been introduced to all 3 specs of the car:
- Electric power: 10 bhp (7kW)
- Total battery energy: 140 kJ
- Maximum deployment per lap: 10 seconds
- 4 dashboard LEDs to reflect SOC (blue) and when maximum deployment per lap has been reached (red)
- Hybrid power is deployed when the driver pushes the KERS button, so make sure you map that on your wheels!
-Updated vehicle collider to remove a bug that would cause cars to become stuck with each other on certain lateral collisions.
-Changed default vehicle setup. Modified available setup options for anti-roll bars.
-Added brake performance variation due to disc temperature.
-Modified livery design in “2022_base” skin, now inspired by the skin MAD Formula Team ran in the inaugural Virtual FSAA competition.
I promise, last update.
Just tiny tweaks to the collider model, a fixed bug in the setup pages and added a Low Downforce option for the front wing in the MFT02 EVO.
That's all, see you on track
CHANGELOG
- Fixed an error regarding tyre thermal behaviour.
- Fixed alignment setup bug
- Modified Front Wing behaviour due to ride height variation
- Changed default vehicle setup.
(Note. If you downloaded V1.31 or another V1.33 a few days ago, this is an update fixing an additional bug I discovered after release, you'll need to redownload. Sorry )
Diego here, I can't believe this is the case, but yes, I'm posting a new "final" update of the MFT02 (5th update that I thought would be the last)
There's a good reason however. A bug regarding the tyre thermal model was reported, and given it was an easy fix, I decided to update the car one last time.
The edit is timely too. The car will be used for the 4th edition of the FSGP Series, which is starting next weekend. These are fun, short and fast paced races taking place throughout the year and replicating the F1 calendar. For more info on how to join these events, Check out the community Discord!
CHANGELOG
-Fix an error regarding tyre thermal behaviour.
-Changed default vehicle setup.
Hello everyone, it's Diego again.
I know I promised the last update would have been the last update. But there are a few things that have made me go back again to this car.
First of all, I have finally figured out what has been causing the bug that made all AI cars to pit on the final lap! This has finally been corrected.
There's also a brand new tyre model, which will make the car far more reactive and enjoyable to drive! You'll notice it from the moment you drive off the pits, so enjoy it!
This update however is mainly motivated because of the 2.4 Hours of Le Mans online event the Formula Student team is preparing for the 2nd of December. This event is a multiclass 2 hours and 24 minute event, using both the current MFT02 car and the MFT01. The event is fun and free for everyone, and everyone is more than welcomed to join (limited slots).

Changelog:
- Overhauled tyre model, correcting tyre behaviour when combined slip is applied. It’s a very noticeable update.
- Removed Low DF option from standard version as it was showing an unrealistic driving experience. Tweaked base setup.
- Recalculated fuel consumption, fuel capacity and pitstop times for both cars. Should finally fix the issue that forced AI cars to pit at the end of races for no reaseon.
- Recalculated pitstop times in preparation for the upcoming 2.4 Hours of Le Mans event
Hi all,
I know I said in the previous post that it was going to be the last update, but as you may know by now, I'm known for discovering a weird bug or 2 after release. I promise this time it'll be the last update
Changelog
- Fixed camera position of one of the onboard cameras.
- Changed fuel LED colour to make it more visible.
- Fixed typo in tyre data files, causing the tyres to not degrade as expected
Hi all.
Small update once more. This time the update is very small, and it is focused on tweaking tyre drop-off curves, making the cliff of the tyre more abrupt and noticeable. This should hopefully make long races with the car more strategic, as tyres before were nearly indestructible.
This will also be the last update of the MFT02 for the forseeable future. Best regards and race on!
Small update once more, tweaking a few elements:
CHANGELOG:
-Modified T-cam position.
-Improved baseline setup and Low DF Additional Setup provided.
Wanted to use this opportunity to once more congratulate the modders who are creating some truly astonishing liveries for this pack. @thejqka has once more sent it out of the park, and has released some of the most iconic skins in F1 history, but in miniature form:
Quick update improving Hoosier tyre texture
Would also like to use this opportunity to thank everyone for the reception and support so far of this car.
I would also like to highlight the incredible work skin creators such as @AfersonPex have made by releasing custom skins for the car. But when it comes to skins, @thejqka has sent it out of the park with an F1 2023 skin pack for the car that in my mind is a must have for the car https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/f1-2023-season-pack-mad-formula-team-mft02.58861/
