really enjoyable car! great work! although could you remove the downshift protection mechanism from the car. It seems to have gotten in there on such an old car :) thanks

Colin Chapman would be proud. You made excellent improvements on the car. The F2 car performs well, especially the ability to hang the tail out. Lots of fun! The 59 car is a great teaching tool as far as throttle control goes. It's my go to car for exercising patience with the right foot. These mods are so good, any changes from here on out should be minor. I don't mean to argue with any of your fans, but racing treads on tires do shine, they shine like crazy depending on tread patterns and compounds. Having driven endurance and formula cars in the US, those hot, humid afternoons produce lots of shine on the track surface and tires (tyres). It can be blinding at times. the effect is better with pp filters, for sure. Again, great work!
Very high quality stuff. Thanks for sharing them.

Just a few quips keeping them from perfection:

1) The tyres are too shiny. They shine like metal. Rubber doesn't shine this way, even when it's new/unused or even oiled up.

2) The driver's thumbs protrude through the steering wheel.

3) The dashboard leather is also too reflective. I know leather reflects but not as much as, say, enamel, which is what it looks like here. Tone the ksSpecular value to about 0.2 or 0.3 to make it look closer to reality.

4) Again, the rims are too reflective. When hit directly by sunlight they look almost as a lit light-source. Tone ksSpecular to about 0.5 for a more realistic shine.

The amount of "too shiny" mods out there makes me think that maybe they spring from the fact that I don't use Pure or even Sol although I do use the latest CSP. Modders cater for these add-ons, understandably, but it sort-of negatively impacts us vanilla (or quasi-vanilla) users.

Thanks, now got those fixes planned for an update, turns out I am yet to AO the wheel rims.

Still one of my favorites, but the last version of the '58 has the radius rods with no color and looks weird. The steering is heavier than I would expect it to be. I felt the first version was spot on.
Beautiful looking cars, but please sort out the shift animation on the latest update the animation is way to slow.
Fantastic little cars, especially the cockpits - really nice and detailed.

I know it might be scrilege but would it be possible to add the option of a stick shift, just seems unnatural (to me) to use paddles with this type of car :)

Realism, realism, realism, time to buy a sequential shifter.

But if you must, at the cost of your first born's soul, you can edit "Drivetrain.ini" to read SUPPORTS_SHIFTER=1
SHOW. Sensacional. Parabens!
Just amazing. Congratulations.

Very nice! We can never have enough vintage mods in AC!

For those who have commented about the driver model: if I may toot my own horn for a moment, I recommend substituting "Driver 1955" (https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/new-driver-driver-1955.46442/). I did a lot of work updating that 1950s look!

I drove the updated cars around the Nordschliefe and thoroughly enjoyed it. The heavier steering is slightly too heavy for me, and I only have a g920. I will say, though that my arms took a beating and I think that is probably how it really felt to drive these cars! Having raced vintage cars irl, the creators nailed the slidability of these skinny-tired missiles. There are no boring moments in the Lotus. Again, great job on this car. Would love to eventually have a racing series based around this car and its competitors of the time.
Top quality, very enjoyable drive. Cockpit textures and gauges are very detailed. Definitely a must-have !

I downloaded the updated car, tried it at Mexico 1967 (a pretty smooth track), and then at Spa 1966 (which is very bumpy), and it definitely feels like the steering has a lot more weight, especially over bumps. I turned the FFB to the normal 100%. Don't kill me, but the steering almost feels a touch too heavy to me now... If there was a happy medium, I feel like it would be perfect.

Anyway, I adore this car. Thank you so much for making it available here on RD!
Brilliant, thank you, agree with other comments more head movement and covered face, it also appears I can only change gear using paddles not my gear lever or am I missing something ?

Transaxle was sequential, known as the Queerbox.

Just downloaded this work of art, took four laps of the Highlands North Course and I am blown away. If you love front engine, skinny tire race cars like Kunos' Maserati F-1 cars, you'll love this. Big controllable slides can be done with ease, and the steering feels great, nice and choppy like the real thing. I don't know if it is my settings, but it would be good to see more head movement and maybe a covered face option, though the bare face and old helmet look really nice. The creator did a hell of a job on this car. Cancel my plans for the next few weeks, I have a Lotus to drive!

Nice! I love the front-engine grand prix cars of the 1950's, and this is a great example. There doesn't seem to be much steering feel, but that could just be me. I turned the FFB up to 175%, which helped a little. It might be nice to have a "steering assist" slider in the setup menu, but other than that, I love it! Thanks!

Model is fantabulous, and the fizix is pretty much *exactly* what I'd expect from a young Colin Chapman.
Top work in the colab.
Many thanks.
