I've been coming back to kart physics ever since creating my first 'real' (as in they didn't weigh 300kg) karts for RFactor 1 back in 2012. (Edit: I said 2002 but it wasn't THAT long ago..)
The karts in AMS1 are still fun to play but since their release many years ago I've been changing, hopefully improving, the way they feel. Now you can try them out if you fancy.
This mod has 3 'base' karts (20, 30 and 40hp) with limited adjustability, but the main feature is a "Sandbox" kart where you can tweak and adjust the karts in a virtually unlimited number of configurations.Using the showroom 'upgrades' system you can play with:
• 15 tire compounds, 5 compounds in 3 slip angle flavors
• 7 engines: Rotax Jr Max, Jr Max Evo, Max, Max Evo, X30, X30 restricted and OK
• 9 levels of power and torque modification for each engine
• 5 levels of peak torque and peak power adjustment
• Adjustable driver weight (affecting CG position, inertias, aero drag)
• Adjustable kart weight
• 21 front geometry options (7 track widths, 3 steering geometries)
• Front spindle distance offsets
• Front torsion bar
• Rear track width
• Rear torsion bars
• Kart frame stiffness settings
• Adjustable seat position, up/down and fore/aft
• Driver and seat flexibility settings and damping
• Rear axle stiffness
• Ride heights
• Dozens of ‘smart’ (ish) driving aid settings to help you tune the handling to your liking or even for fun gamepad play
So while I won't claim these are the best feeling karts in simracing, it is probably the most adjustable one!
I've also written a 31 page document further describing everything from installation, sim settings, FFB setup, and explanations about all the kart settings. That document is included in the mod download.
Since I foolishly upload this mod at 2:30 AM, the chance of something being broken is considerable.
