Jurby Raceway has finally arrived as a work in progress at the moment. Full permissions have been agreed by the Isle of Man government and I would like to thank Nigel, Rob and Bruce for all their help at the actual Jurby Raceway track.
The site is an actual airfield and has been from 1939, used by the Royal Airforce. The main runway is still used today as an emergency backup for Ronaldsway, hence the constraints regarding what can be placed on the actual runways and taxiways.
Jurby was first used as a racetrack in April 1970 and has been used ever since. The actual track is very sparse regarding racetrack furniture is concerned, so this version is a possible future development for the site.
This track has been built using Blender from the ground up and is not available anywhere else. There are plans for at least 6 layouts, however, this version only has the anti-clockwise version.
There are cameras for replays, full race capabilities along with hotlaps too.
Things to do: There are many details that need to be completed, the main one being the far trees. When the light hits them at certain times of the day, a line can be seen where the transparency ends - any advice regarding this issue would be gratefully accepted.
A Senior ICT, Computing and Music lecturer by trade, I only get chance to model in my holidays from University duties.
Thanks to Race Department for their fantastic articles which helped me develop the track building knowledge.
Thanks
Colin
