The Lancia Rally 037 is a competition car specially designed to be entered in rallies.
Manufactured by the Italian manufacturer Lancia in the 1980's to be entered by Scuderia Lancia in the World Rally Championship, a production model, stradale, based on the rally version, was built in 200 units, to meet the requirements of the Group B category.
If she made her debut in April 1982 in the European Championship, in Sardinia, at the Rally Costa Smeralda, her first international confrontation took place during the 1982 edition of the Tour de Corse, the fifth round of the world championship.
Two cars are entrusted to Alen and Bettega: Alen finishes ninth while Bettega is the victim of a violent exit from the road which highlights his fragility.
This accident led to the realization of an evolution with Kevlar doors which appeared at the Madeira rally.
The 037 also receives a Bosch mechanical injection system in place of the carburetors, supplemented by water injection.
It was a brutal and aggressive car, but dedicated to the road and the dirt.
