Introduction
It's that time of year again. Spring is sprung, project cars are coming out of the garage for the first time... some of them are maybe not ready but nonetheless they're on the road "to shake out the bugs".
The Car
The Rootes group wanted a car in the same class as the popular Mini Cooper. They'd been considering options for a while, and in 1963 they finally made it available to the public - the Hillman Imp. With a small 850cc engine behind the rear seats, it was roomy enough to seat more than one adult british person and still attain 100km/h.
They only made a few mistakes in the design - primary being copying suspension homework from the Corvair that would shortly be known as "dangerous at any speed". This has 4 wheel swingarm suspension... usually it's fine, but if you catch traction at the wrong time, the wheels can fold under the car and then you have problems.
The other major mistake was designing the headlights too low, in a rush to get to market and meet legal requirements, the car was raised. This exarcerbated the swingarm problem, and after the first few years they changed the pivot points downward to improve the handling. This car predates that change.
Installation
Open the 7zip file, drag and drop car folders into assettocorsa/content/cars. The usual place.
This mod requires the Custom Shaders Patch, has been tested on the recommended 0.1.79, but should be ok on roughly 0.1.74 and newer.
This is required for comedy reasons. Also fixes to swingarm suspension.
Credits
Stereo - model, textures, physics
Kunos - sounds (from the Alfa Romeo GTA, not an ideal fit but it's a 60s straight 4)
All rights reserved, ask permission if you want to use it for anything other than driving in AC and making screenshots or videos in AC.
Postscript
This has an April 1st edition with it. If you like silliness, have fun & good luck. If you get stuck, I put a cheat code in the readme file. Just restart the game and input it and you'll be on your way.
