This career event and the following to be released aim to recreate a license system similar to the good old Gran Turismo games. Specific tests are held in order to pass the event, and at least a bronze medal for each event is required to progress.
What differs from GT games, at least for now, is that tests are held in the same track, with the same car.
The reasons are substantially three:
The first reason is to keep the download size small. And with that I mean that you won't need other 100 mods in order to enjoy the career event.
Second, while GT is a simcade, AC is a full blown sim. In my opinion you should have the time to learn a single car.
To finish, I strongly doubt driver categorization associates spend all that money to get you around the world because in Fuji Speedway there's the just right corner to test you out.
Of course, another difference from the real license tests is bound to the structure of Assetto Corsa itself. Tests are thus ideated and tweaked with those limitations in mind. For example, in AC is not possible to test you out on a specific corner and see if you did well; that's why the Aosta track comes in handy: there's an oval configuration with a single chicane, so if I want to test you out on just low-speed cornering, that track config is particularly useful.
The current state of the mod offers the R license, composed of 6 tests and a final exam. As the R license is the lower grade, tests are relatively easy to win.
PLEASE NOTE: any feedback is highly appreciated. I tested this event myself with my personal set of skills, so you may find it too easy or too hard. I would love to tweak the difficulty based on your feedback!
