This holiday season no LEGO cars, but a Group B (ish) Audi type car with gravel (ish) tires and a great hillclimb track.
Plumet to your demise and pretend to enjoy it!
Lots of new tricks learnt the last few years applied, trying to make gravel tires feel significantly different from the usual tarmac tires. Not pretending to be the best ultimate Group B sim, just my take on this era of rallying. I bet it is at least quite different from most other rally sims featuring this car.
See the readme PDF file for all sorts of extra physics details and my history with rally games!
If I broke something, it is because it is 2AM and that is not a sane time to be uploading mods to RaceDepartment.
Thanks to:
Goibaka for the amazing Transfagarasan Hillclimb track, originally released for RFactor 1 in 2011, 2012. I couldn't reach the creator. He has previously given permission to convert the track. I'm assuming after 10 years and based on the previous 'ok' given to conversions, this is not the end of the world for a very niche AMS1 release. Of course, no money should ever be asked for this conversion, for non-commercial use only!
Frank 55 for the car 3D models. Frank made some awesome mods for RF1 way back in the day. Sadly he passed away some 13 years ago already. Of course, his 3D models are chunky by todays standards, but in the early days of RF1 modding, they were pretty awesome. Thanks Frank! I hope he would smile about the idea that a few people get to enjoy some of his cars in 2022/2023.
Matthew Sibanyoni for optimizing the 3D models and texturing/mapping/materials/shading, making it a good few steps nicer looking than just the straight rFactorTools conversion. Cheers! Check his Tubez: https://www.youtube.com/@vintagemotorsportyoutube
