An Important Note:
Please note that I am very much new to the art of creating race track mods; so please don't expect anything high quality. I am looking for feedback on how I can improve these tracks as well as more that I may make in the future.
What Is Included:
This mod features the Grand Prix Du Mardi Gras, a street track set in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana. The 1991 as well as the 1992/1995 layouts used by IMSA are present. These tracks are short, bumpy, and very tricky (at least to me). For both layouts, you're looking at around a 1 minute lap time (depending on the car). The tracks have working AI and 20 pit boxes each.
Note: While the 1992/95 layout features a dual-stack gird, the 1991 layout uses a single-stack grid when starting. This is on purpose, as in the original 1991 race, IMSA used single-file starts as a safety precaution.
Known Issues:
- Low Quality: This was meant to be just a personal project for me, so I wasn't going for high quality. The track's surroundings don't feature any actual buildings from New Orleans, only the stock ones I had available in RTB. In addition to this, I don't have brake markers included as I had no idea how to accurately place them. This however won't be much of an issue as you probably won't be able to get above fourth gear before having to brake (they're only 1.3 and 1.43 miles respectively).
- AI: On both layouts, the AI like to crash into the first couple of turns. I have attempted to remedy this by altering the AI line through those turns, but to no avail. I didn't want to alter the track itself to separate it from the original design. To minimize the issue, please use 9 opponents maximum.
- The 1991 layout: When developing the 1991 layout, I noticed that there were two variations. The one present here: http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks/LA/NewOrleans as well as other sources presents an extended section that turns left before rounding back to the back straight. Meanwhile, the version presented in the official broadcast I found on YouTube shows the layout present in this mod. Since the shorter layout was actually broadcasted, that's what I went with. If anyone can clarify this for me that will be great.
- Time Attack and Drift: The track for some reason doesn't load in the Time Attack or Drift mode. However, it seems to work in all other modes
