After some months saying to myself that I would do this livery "later", I finally decided it was time to go and finish it.
The car in question is the Ford Escort RS1800 driven by Hannu Mikkola and Arne Hertz on the 1979 Manx International Rally.
The event proved difficult for the team. While their major rival for the tittle, Pentti Airikkala, had to retire during the first stages, the steering on the David Sutton Cars prepared Escort failed later on, meaning that Mikkola also had to retire from the event. This would later proved to be a setback on the run for the championship, as Airikkala would go on to win the championship, while Hannu had to settle for third, with the same points as Stig Blomqvist.
I decided to base the livery on the Manx International as it is rarely seem, as the Lombard RAC Rally one, in which Hannu Mikkola claimed the win, is more famous.
