Backups of all original game files are provided inside the BACKUP_FILES folder. These can come handy if restoring standard OSD features is needed at any point.
This mod offers 64 slightly different OSD layout transparency options, including a clean replay & flashback screen feature.
When using a 50-90 flashbacks mod, there's no need to display how many remain available!^^^^
^^^^Screenshot taken following race start, after pressing the Replay key, and without having to use the hide button/keypress or anything else.
So 32 options provide this, while 32 others allow to keep the game's original standard replay/flashback screens. The choices are all yours to make!
Once un-zipped, the downloaded .zip file provides a comprehensive folder/sub-folders/sub-folders/sub-folders tree structure that is rather easy to understand and follow: watch your selections displayed in (PC's) Windows Explorer's title bar as you navigate through each branch folder.
Using any of these 64 complete setups (which means, copying both the chosen frontend AND Osd folders to your Steam/SteamApps/Common/F1 2012 folder) will hide the session legend from the game (i.e. the 5-minute countdowns, et al) and the wrong-way warning indicator from being displayed on screen.
It will also permanently remove DRS flags, warning flags, track rejoining messages, fastest lap messages, and illegal overtake messages, unless only the b_osd.pssg & d_osd.pssg files from the chosen frontend folder are used (not the config.xml file from the Osd folder, which prevents the game from loading its flags interface at startup).
The rest of the in-game OSD features can be set in any of the game's menus so you can turn them OFF or ON at your leisure. With everything OFF, and RULES set to REALISTIC, you will be sgetting your feedback from the marshals, steering-wheel flashing arrows, Race Engineer and so on. Also, many of these options allow you to render the game's pitlane/on-track quick-menus and replay-control buttons/keys invisible, so memorizing all your button/keypress sequences in order to continue 2 use them while driving is a must b4 copying any files to f1 2012.
Edited to add: Permanent removal of the LG sector times icon (all files).
Edited once more to add: New options also include the possibility to remove (or keep) the career-objective's "lollipop" (either green or red) from the Position stack on the upper-left corner. If used, keeping all career objectives in mind while driving on tracks is recommended, since they won't be shown on screen.
The following root folder and files are included:
Root folder name: BACKUP_FILES
+Branch (sub-folder) name: frontend | Filenames: b_osd.pssg and d_osd.pssg
+Branch (sub-folder) name: Osd | Filename: config.xml
To restore the game's standard OSD features:
b_osd.pssg and d_osd.pssg both go into your f1 2012\frontend folder
To restore the flags interface: config.xml goes into your f1 2012\Osd folder.
Explore the folder tree structure by opening each branch for features you think you would like to try in your game. Once at the end of any branch, you will find 2 folders: frontend & Osd, and 1 screenshot image you can double-click on to see how your on-screen display will look like if you choose to copy these folders to f1 2012.
Other features include, with or without the game's starting lights, full revs displays or just DRS, KERS & Fuel indicators, and a few other fun choices.
Thanks to Race Department, to Ryder25 for the amazing PSSG-editing tools, and also thanks to MAC-user modder NeoStuey who shared the techniques for making such OSD mods b4 not returning since April '13.
Hope all is well and fine.
